Isn't September like Bungie's month? And I'm pretty sure if they release it in September people will still be able to get it, it's not like people don't go to stores when they have school...

Microsoft will control the release date. They control the price, the date it can be releasesd, the amount of testing required, the approval, changes needed to be made, required bug fixes...etc.. Bungie is the brain, MS is the wallet.

I think they want it to compete with Modern Warfare 2. Or work out the bugs in it.

Bungie aren't finished until the game is released. They're still probably testing the game for bugs.
