"If something is easy, broken, cheap or can be abused, majority of the population will support it as a legit and or skilled concept/idea. Whatever people like and or love, they will thrive on it because no matter how broken it maybe, they do not like change."

This is a repost because someone thought it'd definitely be good to bring it up here.
I suppose all this can be incorporated into Halo:Reach in the near future.

You know today I was coming across some youtube videos and I spotted a video about games. I watched it and it talked about a really good point in gaming. It had pointed out that Games are really there for the game play mechanics and what you do during game play. Now I know many of you are thinking, either DUH or well I like the story or the graphics are nice or it's Halo! Those are nice but, what about the one thing that really makes games in general fun?

I've been thinking for the past hour, it shouldn't be really the comparison of big vs small maps so much as how the map's environment works in game play mechanics. Personally, I'd like to see a lot more interactive environments within a map. Now mind you, I'm talking about built in interactive environments. Forging is fun in all, but I'd like to see this none the less a lot more in matchmaking. With this in mind, I have quite a few suggestions. (Oh by the way, man cannons and gravity lifts are nice but they are on almost every single map on Halo 3)

Interactiveness:
Doors that actually close and open (Like High Ground, Gemini and Turf )
More buttons and levers to push! (Like on Orbital, Standoff, Relic, Containment)
Extending Bridges (Sorta the same concept with Turf's tiny catwalk metal pieces)
More automated defense mechanism (Yup, I'm talking about Sandbox and Snowbound)
Vehicle Map Interaction (Vehicles on a map as object to use for cover - Pelican on Valhalla)
Natural Disasters (Terminal's train isn't a natural disaster, but it's pretty natural to the map)
Flood AI (Why not put some in there? What says interactive more than that?)
Trap Doors and hidden dangers (Aside from stepping outside the map, this could be fun)
Destructible Environments (No I don't mean stuff that can be destroyed only to be respawned 30-60 seconds later. I'm talking about built in destructible objects that cannot be reset until the game or the round is over.)

Elephant (Uh, I think this pretty much explains itself)
Elevators (They have plenty in Campaign so why should multiplayer be denied access to all this fun?)

Any who just a small list of fun stuff that could possibly improve fun :D. So I'd like to hear thoughts on this please.

Good idea, Halo could do with some minor changes like this so we feel we are playing something new and fresh (even though its the same game as the other 3)

I don't know... there is a massive amount of effort put in making destructible environments. The only other popular game to do this was Battlefield: Bad Company, and that game failed hard.

Bad Company was awesome.

Since when did Gears 2 have destructible environments?

The enemies are destructible enough.

I guess you definition of "destructible" isn't as clear as mine.

Isn't there supposed to be some kind of interactive function in one of the unreleased Mythic maps? They mentioned something about a "jump" that would almost always result in death unless something was deactivated (or it might be the opposite), but such a thing has been shown to not exist in the current maps.

Anyway, I think more geological effects would be really cool. The stalactites on Waterworks were an AWESOME effect that players could actively utilizes against enemy vehicles if timed just right. It was amazingly cool, and I was disappointed at the absence of these sorts of things in Halo 3.

I read that there was a map with two buildings connected by a bridge that you activate in order to cross, perhaps that's it?

That might be it. Do you remember when/where they talked about this?
