although you know some idiots going to create a dual wieldable sniper that is insta kill and fire 24 rounds per second...
lol! But if you are serious about custom content, you'd stay away from such temptations.
I hope this idea does get some notice definetly.

my idea was a campaign forge, where you could make 20-30 minute campaign levels by connecting forge-made rooms and placing brute and elite spawn points, setting the rank of the brutes and elites, etc.

The best part would be it would be like a never ending well of campaign DLC.

ya i would leave weapon customization to COD and army of 2. i believe it would ruin halo if we could alternate weapons because it would creat problems with mods, it would also take the whole feel of halo away and it would change halo reach so much that it wouldnt feel exactly part of the halo family. Though bungie could offer a social playlist that lets you customize your weapons but i dont think bungie should just go head first into this option that could change the game so much. anyway if anyone wants comment on my opinions feel free these are just my thoughts and sugestions and no more.

Great idea, mate! I think we would see some incredible stuff if people had the power to make their own weapons; gravity sniper, anyone? No, thats awful.

I mean out of all the weapons in the Halo universe,that appeared in the novels and games,it would be pointless to add new weapons as they have never been mentioned before.
Example :

harpoon rifle-where has that been mentioned ever in the Halo universe? If it was added it would appear out of nowhere..
Halo wars is a big example,all the new vehicles,what happened to them in canon terms? Did they run out of money to build them? And they were powerful,and poof! They're gone in a few years...that doesn't make sense,they should atleast try to explain the absence of those vehicles.


Canon terms? WTF, we are talking about multiplayer here. In canon terms you dont see red and blue spartans killing each other 50 times.

I don't think you understand me. You know Forge? You can place a yellow "Custom Powerup" on the map, and then you can edit its statistics for custom games.

This is essentially what Im asking for (only the weapons would be edited in forge, possibly, instead of custom game options). Put some generic (new) forerunner-themed weapons whose only purpose is for us to edit what they shoot (i.e. shotgun buckshot, plasma, green plasma, green needler rounds, etc.), how powerful they are, etc. so we can make weapons.

Very much agreed. Definitely reading anything you post from now on. Very interesting idea. Hopefully Bungie is carefully reading these forums for feedback. The unfortunate thing, however, is I know these customizable guns will only be for Custom Games.

Great post. I completely agree with everything here. There are a few things I would like to add. First, we should also be able to rename the weapon. Next, how far the bullet can be off-center on the first bullet, second second bullet, third, fourth, and so on. The option to enable/disable the lunge. The option to have the weapon register client-side or server-side.(I would love to see this but chances are slim)Edit grenades and vehicles as well. Maybe edit player movement speed when single-wielded and dual-wielded. That is all I can think of for now.

Maybe this weapons template should also exist for the normal weapons but only in a place where Bungie employees can access it so they can edit the weapons without a patch.

Its a good idea but you need to edit something I see.. If you choose one option other options should be removed from the available list of options.. this would be important to keep weapons in check.

i.e. If you are making a power weapon and you choose "Insta-kill shot" or a "power weapon" your range availability should decrease drastically. They should work with one another so you cant just go down the checklist selecting "300% damage, 15x range, stun, extreme melee power, wide spray.. etc." You get the idea.

But it's not a problem in H3 so I don't see why this would be a problem either.
