I must say this would also allow TW's classes argument to be broken in better, as any un-edited weapons could be used as a template spawning weapon.

Subject: Template Weapons in Forge (v 2.0) -- 50+ Votes

Great idea. Having a seperate set of weapons that could be edited instead of normal weapons is guinies. But why just a seperate set of forrunner weapons? How about 10 to 20 weapons that arnt just forrunner themed, but are slightly "off" versions of other weapons.

For example, a red needler with green needles. A crome-ish batttlerifle, with a green ammo screen and scope. You know, just a bunch of discolored weapons that people would immediatly recognize as "custom weapons," and wouldn't hold any expectaions on what they might do. That way people wont complain that they picked up a rocket lancher that shot like a plasma pistol or got killed by a SMG sniper rifle (although they still might complain about getting killed).

Good idea... but I'm not quite sure if it would be the best option as some weapons may look too similar to others, and could confuse people....

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

I have no issue with this.

Maybe, so that custom weapons don't make their way into matchmaking accidentally, have some detail on the weapon change slightly to show that a weapon has been modified.

For example, the Battle Rifle's ammunition counter would change to red and the lights on the grip would change to blue.

The AR would do the same.

The carbine's ammunition counter would change to red as well.

Just little mods to the details on the weapon to show if it's been modified.

Awesome idea. That's the sort of thing that will totally explode the lastability.

The only issue is identification. When playing the current Halo games you can clearly recognise the Rocket Launcher, Sword, Sniper etc. Each weapon has a very unique design and when an enemy is not firing or has a 2nd weapon on their back it is clear to see what they are packing and you can devise a strategy. i.e The guy also has a shotgun so don't get too close, the guy has a Sniper and an AR so take out your Mauler and wade in etc etc.

Players would need to see and instinctively recognise what a custom weapon is and does. Presumably scoped weapons get scopes, plasma weapons get a glow and things like that?

Very interesting concept Cheehwawa, although you know some idiots going to create a dual wieldable sniper that is insta kill and fire 24 rounds per second...

to balance it more while customizing a weapon it would be better if they gave you a certain amount of points to do it so you cant just make your weapon be the most powerful accurate and make it make it shoot at fast a the smg. also if you have not gone over the limit of a certain amount of point your alowed to spawn with it in matchmaking.


p.s. cheehwawa in one of your post you said something about mc traveling in time....you were justjoking right

Yeah ok, maybe not in Canada...

I really like this idea and I think it would be really cool. I have one adjustment in mind that would make creating this easier, on Bungie's part. Use options in settings such as the Custom Power-up options. Have up to a certain amount of slots, such as 5 available slots for new weapon settings. Then in Forge you can spawn Custom Weapon 1 through 5 and make appearance changes from there. This might seem confusing so if anyone doesn't understand let me know and I'll try to rewrite this.

That could be a problem, but what im getting at is there should be many different modles you can use as a custom weapon. Not just a forrunner version of a rifle, pistol, cannon, turret, etc ...

The more customization the better.

That's a great idea. It would be nice to actually add these things to MM too.

EX: Take a different weapon each month or so and make a playlist that starts with it or something. Also, the all-time highest rated weapon could be used in MM. Instead of Team BRs it would say "Team [custom weapon name]".

Overall, I love your idea!

I love this idea. I'd also like to suggest a variety of different skins for the default weapons, such as different finishes or paint jobs, and weapons that don't appear in the main game but appear in the books or are mentioned in passing, such as the MA5K Carbine or the M6J Pistol, or the variants of weapons that appeared in earlier Halo games, such as both the BR55 from Halo 2 and the BR55HB SR from Halo 3.

Both those suggestions are only for CUSTOM GAMES or options in Forge, not for Matchmaking and not for Campaign.

...Okay, maybe in Campaign. I could see Bungie hiding reskinned versions of the weapons in the maps and unlocking them for Forge when you pick them up in Campaign.

Because their BR is "5 st4rz" and inovative change like this could cause armies of "BKs" to make "ub3r sn1p3r r1fl3s." Thus forcing us all to play with their weapons, on their gametypes and maps.

I had an idea where you would get an attachment onto your arm that looks like a big mechanical arm that works like an SMG but stronger, less ammo, and great melee weapon.
Oh, or make a rifle with scope with a little less range, but with full-auto like assault rifle.

This is a really cool idea but, as is generally the case with most of your ideas, Bungie probably won't spend the extra time developing this, especially since their focus will most likely be on making an awesome campaign and multiplayer and fixing issues with Halo 3 (just my opinion). It could definitely work but I just don't see Bungie going in the direction of ultra-customization (hopefully they'll prove me wrong). The way I see it, game studios just can't spend the extra time making a game awesome in all areas. We can either get an awesome campaign-based game or an ultra-customizable custom games-based game. Extra time spent developing both aspects just wouldn't be worth it since Reach is going to be a sellout no matter what.

PS: Get to work on Reach script part 2 boy! We're waiting! Jk but still, I can't wait.
