I've seen an awful lot of whining about things not correlating with canon and I wanted to tell you all to stop it. Because it's moronic.

So what if an ODST can hijack a tank and beat down a brute? So freaking what?

I agree. Don't get me wrong I love the Halo storyline and own every single book but people are just complaining too much. Besides, they can't seem to get it into their heads that just cause someone isn't a Spartan doesn't mean they're not bad ass.

Indeed. Have you ever gotten pistol whipped before?

It hurts like a -blam!-.

Tallahassee?
I spent two weeks in Tallahassee one night.

Wether logical or not they had to to make it balanced so they dont over power you.

Firefight is not canon. And even if all this is in campaign, its for fun's sake. ;D

ODSTs probably could beat down a brute in canon... if the brute was injured enough.

IN that Halo Wars cutscene, somebody beats down an Elite...

I made the topic, I know, but I'm a hypocrite. Halo Wars probably ain't the reference you want for arguing canon.

Gameplay trumps canon, if trying to stick to canon makes it not fun.

They're the offensive weapons that are put on sea faring warships - not anymore of course.

In correlation to the storyline. And I agree. People need to stop their -blam!-ing and accept it. So what if Johnson is dead and he appears in firefight? So what if an ODST can beat down a brute? It's a game. Not all games have to have logic that make sense.

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

I would rather not have those elements for both canon but also gameplay. I can understand the balancing reasons but I think it would add more depth to ODST for not being able to do Spartan style things. The idea was to have Halo style gameplay with far more vulnerability than you had as a Spartan. While you are more vulnerable, being able to wield Hammers or jack vehicles detracts from that element of you being mortal where a Spartan wasn't.

That is personal preference, though. The game is fine as is and I'm personally not going to use those elements. Wielding a Turret typically makes you an easier target anyway.

And my army of brothers went over the hilltops, drenched in blood we may be.... but fighting is all left to me....together with my army of brothers...down we fall....darkness in all..through hell...

A mix of canon and gameplay is fine. It wouldn't be fun if all of a sudden ODST's could play just like master chief, but its no fun hitting a brute 40 times to get their armor off. A balance of both makes the game fun and makes the game more interesting for those who either love the storyline or don't know a thing about the storyline.

If you already live in heaven, Where do you go when you die?

it doesn't really matter... as long as the story is canon... cause if they screw up the story... I would hate the game... but if they wanna make a group of ODST's kick-ass... go ahead....
