. . . AND?

Seeing as Firefight goes forever, MM would be pointless It would be based on how long it takes everyone to quit.

No, just make a group, post in the Classifieds or make some more friends. You don't need a forum to find people to play one mode.

A lot of groups are eventual failures. A forum is there forever. And its the most convenient. Anyone can access it anytime.

And its not about friends. I have tons of friends. its not always easy to get them whenever you want to though. Enter: Firefight forum. Just post and play.

yeah it sucks that you cant search for players to play with(if you know what mean?)

But you can always play by yourself! happyface

But, kinda defeats the purpose of a Cooperative game mode, right?

-"Two men enter, the better man leaves. The lesser man is respawning, and that's Halo."

Why would you want to play Firefight with a bunch of possible retards? Just get three friends to play it with you, I promise you it's allot more fun.

In case you dont have any friends who want's to play Firefight I'm ure there's allot of people in your situation :)

Enter: Classifieds. Just post and play.

You're describing a system we already have, the only alteration being that it's specifically for one thing. There are multiple large ODST groups out there, I'm sure one of the 700+ member groups is sure to have a Firefight finding thread.

We just don't need a new classifieds.

The thing about Classifieds is that no one uses it for anything. Have you tried using it and come out successful? I know I haven't and I know a lot of other people who haven't had as much luck as well.

Classifieds is definitely for a whole different class of advertising. If I had a chance, I would suggest a forum for not only Firefight, but Custom Games hosting and Campaign Co-op, because its an option.

In fact, maybe don't give Firefight its own forum but make a new forum for Firefight, Custom games and Campaign Co-op. Granted, there are many groups out there but having one main one for everyone is convenient. They can just come onto B.Net, click the forum, make the post and go.

Its not that I don't have friends. Its not always easy to gather a group of friends as and when you want to play. This is where this comes in. You just post it on here and people can join if they want. I keep saying this and I must stress, it is an option.

As with Matchmaking. You can argue that playing Multiplayer with random people sucks. Matchmaking is there to make it easier on you. You don't have to use it, you can always get a bunch of friends. I wish you good luck though. Its not always as easy as it seems.

I think it would be a failure like the classifieds, but as someone stated above, you could make a group. With that group, It would be much more specialized and you could run it with an iron fist.

I'll be on my own side.

What a lot of you are failing to realize is that outwardly, the Classifieds appears to be a cesspit. What would make it look like it's working? A bunch of utterly pointless replies saying "I'll join your group." or "I'll play."? The point of the Classifieds is to advertise, not discuss. I'll make a Firefight advertisement as an example.

Anyone interested in some Firefight? Starting on Heroic difficulty, we have 2 in group already, send a message to (gamertag) for an invite, thanks!

Now, if you're looking for a game of Firefight, are you going to sit around and pointlessly reply with "Ok, I'll join!" or are you going to get on XBL and send a message to get an invite?

Head over to the Microsoft forums.

I just don't understand why there's no Matchmaking in the first place. It seems like a no-brainer to me. It works well for Gears 2.

Doesn't CoD:WaW have a Matchmaking system for campaign and zombies mode as well?

I have to admit I never looked at it that way. However, that never seemed to happen when I tried to do Annual. Also seemed to fail with a lot of other people I know. I can't speak for the entirety of the forums but It wasn't as useful a technique. Not only that but posting in the normal forums themselves got us banned (I believe I suffered from an instance like that during my Annual hunt)

Having a forum dedicated to Firefight would help people understand "Okay, I get it. This is a forum for the Firefight Game mode. I can discuss about it there and find people to play with."

I don't know. I just know that I, and I know quite a number of other people, who have never had success with the Classifieds. I still feel a dedicated forum for Firefight is the right path to go down.

I still appreciate a reply from a Ninja though. First hand experience with how the forums operate for the win!

I agree with OP. Good idea. Would be nice to have a thread dedicated to Firefight.

Nicely Said.

All requests must be submitted in hand-written triplicate, with no less than 500 pages. You're finished aren't you?

Solution: get some friends.
With an xbox or strangers online.

Okay. I'll get it out of the way right now. I was extremely psyched for ODST and Firefight. I still am. However, today, Urk dropped the bombshell that no, Firefight will not have matchmaking.

I've said this in a lot of threads but living where I am, or even for anyone else, its not always easy to gather a group of people to come in and play a game. That's why I felt Halo 3's 4 Player Co-op feature was not fully used as it was hard to use it effectively.

I think I can speak for the rest of us when I say gathering a group of people to do the Vidmaster: Annual experience was a pain the arse. Posting on the Halo 3 Forums was against the rules and Classifieds is a graveyard of -blam!-.

What I'm proposing that Bungie can do on their part to make up for the lack of Firefight matchmaking is give us...

A Firefight Forum. A dedicated forum for people to post up threads looking for people. Or people who want to join a game can look there. Its a really simple concept but it will help a lot and ensure that a larger amount of people get the most out of Firefight, without matchmaking and without much of a hassle.

What say you?

Please? :)

Wow, you didn't read anything did you? Its not having friends that is the problem. Its getting everyone together as and when you want to.

  • 06.12.2009 7:02 PM PDT

maybe a separate button in the post game lobby of MM to indicate you want to do campaign or firefight. Then you can group up and go. Either that or a Looking for group option you can turn on so you can continue to play MM while waiting for a group.
