maybe a separate button in the post game lobby of MM to indicate you want to do campaign or firefight. Then you can group up and go. Either that or a Looking for group option you can turn on so you can continue to play MM while waiting for a group.

Thing is, not only has Urk confirmed that Firefight, being built over the Campaign Networking, can't have matchmaking but the Game's done.

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

I support the idea.

I think it's incredibly stupid that there's no matchmaking option. Halo's Multiplayer is all about finding new teams, and now that they've released a new extremely team based game-mode, they didn't bring matchmaking along as well? I know it 'was built from the same networking as the campaign', but I don't understand that, with a year to work with, they couldn't put together something to add matchmaking to Firefight.

So I guess a forum would have to be the next best thing. The classifieds don't stand out and have become so unpopular and utterly useless, saying they're what people should use doesn't cut it. Adding a forum that serves an ovbious purpose that interests people means it will be used.

And, like Sanjeev said, although it makes sense that there would be few replies, that didn't seem to happen during the annual Recon challenge. And the lack of replies doesn't mean that no progress is being made, either.

Also, just to keep things clean, threads in the forum could dissapear after a day so as to not have too much clutter and confusion.

It still boggles my mind that there will be no matchmaking for it.. that's probably the worst way to show off a huge project. That definitely made me lose some points for ODST.

I'm more into the idea of creating a dedicated chapter (Firefighters??). Some should totally do that if it hasnt been done already, now's your time to be famous.

Also, leaderboards would have been cool.

A boy can always dream of a patch. Why make a separate forum for ODST and just use the classifieds?

I guess part of the decision to not optimize it for matchmaking was because Firefight was supposed to be "play with your friends". Or maybe the folks at Bungie didn't think it was neccasary. Well, it's always a nice option and the forum is definitely the next best thing in my opinion.

There are leaderboards. That's what led me to think that there would be matchmaking.

And a group will get lost eventually. Really quickly as well. Something's that open to everyone from the get go is a much more powerful choice.

Wait...The Game is done? So....Is the time from now to September 22nd all going to be spent making the game copies? Im confused by what you mean by "Done".

Nope. The Game is finished apparently. Time now is to probably fix and possible bugs before the game goes gold about a month before ship.

Does anyone even read these?

It's a good idea but I don't think it's needed. If you create a Firefight group I'll be happy to help you get it started up.

What I'm afraid about a Firefight group is that it'll die really quickly. A public forum is always a better idea, isn't it?

Oh cool. yeah I'm not reading the updates so that was just an assumption based on Bungie's history with leaderboards.

I am also worried about that....

Well I guess we could have a sub forum in the ODST forum for Firefight, that'll work well.

PS - Maybe we should also have a forum for the purpose of finding Recon, lolololololol :P (I'm only joking with you mate, but it's never gonna get old).

Haha, Those were dark days. Really dark days. I still haven't forgiven Bungie for just sitting there and watching us go on and on.

Don't worry, I also was a sucker for it, as well as many more.

A dedicated forum for people to post up threads looking for people. Or people who want to join a game can look there.

Sorry but I don't like your idea. If people are looking for others to play with, they can use the Forum that people have been using for years, The Classifieds. It's no different than looking for a couple people to play campaign with or for someone to help you in Team Slayer. You can post in The Classifieds and find your fellow Firefighters there.

But, my point is that, The Classifieds, in its current state is useless. Its practically impossible to find anyone using that (Painful Vidmaster: Annual experiences come to mind). People will just post in the Halo 3: ODST forums, which will subsequently get them locked and possibly banned.

The same thing happened with Vidmaster: Annual. It was a mess and this would be something people will do more often that.

Can you imagine an ODST Forum with its entire front page full of locked threads because everyone goes there to post for Firefight matches after getting nothing on Classifieds? I know I can.

I disagree. The classifieds serve their purpose in keeping other forums clean of spam of people looking for others to play with and such. I don't think that creating an entire new forum would be necessary. The people that post in the ODST forum will learn their lesson when they're banned for spam. The moderating team will make it known that the Classifieds are the place to look for playmates, whether it be in Halo 2, Halo 3 or in ODST.

Right, but all of online play is to be played with friends. This, of course, should (I think, anyway) involve making new friends as well through matchmaking.

I don't know. I really expected such a feature to be there after seeing competing survival modes from other games had it as well. Oftentimes, there are more people searching for games in Horde or Zombies than in regular game playlists. I think that says something.

Maybe Bungie wanted to avoid that for whatever reason; concentrate the population in MM playlists.

Well, if you ask me, and not to offend anyone, they haven't done a good job in making that known.

Classifieds has always been a graveyard. What Nedus said earlier is a good point but even that isn't happening. The Classifieds is not a good place to find people to play Co-op, Custom games and in the future, Firefight. It has not worked well in the past and already has one hell of a reputation.

Its time to either revamp Classifieds, make it more focused (As in only for Custom Games, Co-op and Firefight), or just make this new forum.

Obviously, the ideal situation where everyone wins is to completely revamp it. And by revamp I mean give it a clean sweep. Tabula Rasa if you will. A Clean Slate. 0 threads.

Announce it in a weekly update. Make it known that you can use it for this, this, this and give examples of situations. And stricter moderation would be needed for that.

Let's say someone posts the example Nedus gave.

Anyone interested in some Firefight? Starting on Heroic difficulty, we have 2 in group already, send a message to (gamertag) for an invite, thanks!

Give this a One Day leeway. After One day, delete the thread. This prevents overcrowding and making the Classifieds seem like a complete 'cesspit' as Nedus put it.

Another case would be one like this:

Anyone interested in some Firefight. I want to have a session tomorrow at 1pm. We;ll start on Heroic difficulty. Send a message to {gamertag) for an invite. See you there! Thanks!

For cases, leave the thread open till 12 hours till the mentioned time. In this case, if Tomorrow was a Friday. Then the thread will be open from the time it was posted till...I guess...Saturday 1am. Then close it.

If Classifieds is to be reused, it needs to have stricter rules like this. To make it seem like its working. And the times I have suggested above should be more than enough time as if you don't get someone within a day when you say "Let's play right now!", chances are, you've given up a long time ago.

And of course, if Classifieds is to be reused, Bungie needs to make it known. Let people know. I believe that's part of the problem now with Classifieds.

I still prefer the Firefight forum idea but in the event if a compromise is needed, I feel this is a good solution as well.

I like to play firefight but without MM it's kinda tough to find people who also like to play it semi-regularly. So if you are looking for someone to play with send me a FR. I have all the vidmaster achievements but don't have a problem in helping out...especially if you are doing endure. SC

What I'm afraid about a Firefight group is that it'll die really quickly.

There are plenty of groups that last. As long as it serves a purpose and has administrators that have the time to run it. If you would crate a Firefight group it would certainly have a purpose. And I think there would be enough demand that you would get enough active members to complete your goal...if you were willing to put the work into it.

A public forum is always a better idea, isn't it?
The classifieds already really do the exact same thing you are asking...and then some. If you crate another forum with the same general purpose the same thing will happen, it will be just as pointless.
Although in my experience the classifieds work (not all the time...but not everyone replies to every thread in other forums and yet we don't say there is a problem in forums such as the community forum).
