Wrongo forumo.

He is in the right forum, read the OP, he is suggesting a new forum for Firefight, no asking for a team to play firefight.

It was moved from the ODST forum by a Mod. I'd figure they know which is the right forum? :D

And I'm still not convinced groups are such a good idea. Thanks for all the support guys and yes, to use Classifieds, the community itself needs to change.

I feel the best solution is to implement the moderation rules I suggested into a dedicated Firefight forum.

God I don't know...But still...Thanks for he support :D

Wierd. I found this thread in the Community Forum, obviously after it was moved. But, my post is listed as if it were from the Halo : ODST thread in my list of posts.

Does anyone even read these?

It's a funny bug isn't it. I noted it in the bug thread a while ago.

Well I guess I better put some pants on.

I feel like I'm gonna break this thing!

There's nothing wrong with The Classifieds.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

Honestly, I actually kind of agree... But maybe just a temporary forum? Like it would be open for six months? That would make more sense to me. Just because I'm sure the traffic would die down quite a bit by then and then it would be almost just a waste of space. Lol

Thought I would bring this up again after todays 'massive' leak. Firefight plays a pretty huge part in the ODST package *duh?*. More support would be nice.... Well, more opinions at least.

i woke a bit ago and my son was playing halo 3 he was on forge i saw at the bottom of the screen was a charge for 35 dollars is that real or not did he charge 35 bucks or is that justfor the in game

-NO RECUITMENT MESSAGES PLEASE

There were a couple of "leak" threads locked in the ODST Forum earlier today. They were linking to a youtube video showing the ODST achivements listing. It looks like Firefight WILL play a pretty sizeable role.

As for the Forum concept, I'm not too bothered myself, I know enough people to be able to get Firefight going without it, but it seems like an OK idea. It may go the same way as Classifieds, but it's worth a shot.

We need to get more people to use the classifieds I think. We already have a forum which has the functionality the OP wants, it's just that nobody uses it. We need to stimulate interest in that forum and get more people checking it and using it when they need a partner or want a game. I honestly can't think of a way of doing that though, because even when you direct someone to the classifieds they always respond with something along the lines of: "but it's always dead".

Edit - Thanks :)

All in all after thinking about your suggestion a bit more Sanjeev I don't think a forum primarily for Firefight is needed. There are many groups people can join to find players to play with and it's not that hard to get together a few friends to play it.

But, its not all that easy and for a game which uses the Mode as one of its main selling points should be able to support ease in usage.

Well, I was thinking about that. If we can get the Classifieds up and running... again?... then, there wouldn't be a need for stuff like this idea. But that's the thing: We can't do it. Unless, someone from Bungie (Looking at you, Urk :D) comes out in a News Post or even in a Weekly Update and says "Hey guys. There's this forum. And you can do this, this, this, this in it.", it's going to remain dead.

Here's hoping Bungie does something of the sort as the stuff that leaked out today, Pretty Firefight heavy.

Well I don't think I would ever use that forum, but for your sake and those who would use it I hope that this happens. :)

And if all else fails, you could make a Private Group.

Surely you see that your firefight forum would suffer the same fate as the classifieds?

I honestly believe the best solution to your problem would be to create a group dedicated to the Firefight mode. Because to be honest I think the classifieds is such that, with the way that it is organised and the rules are in that forum, coupled with the way that the users use the forum, it always appears to be dead.

The groups dedicated to screenshots, montages, Halo theories, fanfics, other games, groups that play campaign are all usually filled with some pretty decent regulars and fill a nice little niche. The existence of these groups also mean that I have something to link to when someone posts in the wrong forum, rather than just being a twat and flaming them. I personally think that you should be the one that steps in and fills the role of the functionality you don't see with the site. And with groups it's really easy to do.

$.50 in store credit.

Then people would get paired with low ranks and lose. Then they would get mad at the system for giving them a bad match. Then they rant on Bungie.

I have no problem with it being the way it is. MM seems like a bad ideda to me.

I disagree. First of all, the forum would be ridiculously disorganized. Sure there could be rules to keep it organized like "When you get enough people, edit your post to delete it" but people won't do that on the general forums. Also, Firefight is nothing like getting a group together for Annual. Annual is just something you wanted to do to get the achievement so you would do it with anyone but Firefight is more like a Custom Game. It just wouldn't be fun without a group of friends,

Instead of a forum, make a Firefight Group and people that want to regularly play Firefight. Here, a group to discuss Halo 3: ODST and Firefight. After ODST comes out it will also be a place to request team mates.

No. It does not merit it's own forum.

Finding games, finding anything, advertising anything, should (in my opinion) remain in The Classifeds forum. Here's my suggestion that I have mentioned in the past, rename The Classifieds "Gamefinder and Recruitment Forum" or something to that effect and stick it under the subheading "Community Tools" under the "Community" section of the nav bar.

That solves a number of issues, 1 - being the large number of people unaware of the forum and 2 - The subject of this thread and many others.

I would love something like this to come into effect but at the moment that doesn't seem to be possible :-(

  • 06.24.2009 10:08 AM PDT

I agree that the Classifieds are pretty much dead but I don't think a whole forum devoted to Firefight is needed. It's more work the the Web team and moderators. I think a pinned thread in ODST forum would be much more reasonable. SORRY IF SOMEONE HAS THIS ALREADY, I'm not reading through 4 pages of posts. I'm busy.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

I'd imagine that Halo-Horde will get the same solution as what has already happened in Halo 3. A "niche" community will claim it as their own and develop a following around it. Probably with their own off-site website and forums. Like ForgeHub. Or H3Wheelmen.

People who are like-minded in their gameplay naturally are just going to set up a group and if you're really going to be a serious Halo-Horde player, you can simply join their group and find other Halo-Horde players to add to your Friends List. Or like most groups of this type, they'll probably have a secondary XBL Silver account that people can use as a "peering point" so you can see 100 other people who are looking to Halo-Horde it up even if you don't want to add them to your Friend's List. I know almost every organized group that I'm a part of has these: Cirque D' Geezers, TTL, H3ITWP, H3Wheelmen, HaloCharts. It's free, easy to do/use, and it's pretty effective.

And here I thought that I was the only one who did Taco Night Tuesdays!!

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Then why in the world do you think another public forum would solve this? There isn't anything preventing you from using the Classifieds forum in this manner, people simply choose not to.

The answer is twofold - use the Classifieds, or join a group of players interested in Firefight and use that group's forum to organize. From there, you can add to your friends list as you play with people.

There is not going to be a new Firefight only "gathering" forum. Use the Classifieds, or the group system. That's why they are there.

The thing about Classifieds is that no one uses it for anything. Have you tried using it and come out successful? I know I haven't and I know a lot of other people who haven't had as much luck as well.

Because in a public forum, more people will answer.

Totally agreed.

There really needs to be a way of organising it.

Someone should definitely make a group for it closer to the time, I can't really see the forum happening.
