If I was in a room with justin Bieber, Bin Laden, Hitler and a gun with two bullets I would Shoot Bieber twice.

I been down that road my friend. Prepare to get flammed by many.
But I will tell you, Bungie has stated that when they make a new Map pack, the previous map pack will be free. So you basically pay to have it early, is all..

we still have to pay for legendary maps unless you bought the mythic maps 1st

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

You know what is funny? That everyone who is saying that the price is bull-blam!- and that they are not gonna buy, will probably buy it. Every one who is a loyal Halo fan will spend the $60. Bungie did give us loyal fans something, 3 (soon to be 4) kick-ass games that are only available to us lovely XBOX owners. So please whiners, don't be so damn greedy and go do what Bungie created Halo for, having fun.

Yeah we can still buy it....on ebay.
You're cheap and pathetic.

How on earth is that cheap and pathetic? If Microsoft gives me a price I don't like, I vote with my dollars and don't pay them for their content and get it second hand.

I mean I personally think the $60 price is less money for Microsoft, as a lot less people will purchase the game.

I've bought Halo 3 (Legendary), as well as all of the maps, and I'm glad they put it in there. Would you rather that they didn't include a multiplayer in it at all?

I would rather it was just the first disc + a downloadable code for mythic part 2 that costed around $40.

The best solution would be two editions for people who haven't picked up the map packs yet.

A few things to note...

1. This thread should have ended long ago. While it has been a source of entertainment for me to read through for the last 20 minutes or so, it has gotten old. This kind of bickering really makes me wish that people under the age of 17 aren't allowed internet access, and when they do finally turn that age then they must pass a test showing they are mature enough to participate in at least semi-intellectual conversation. Never gonna happen, but I can dream...can't I?

2. While a certain side of the argument is full of a greater amount of idiots than the other (take one guess which), continuing to argue is what these kinds of people feed on. You are only influencing their behavior. While it may be entertaining and infinitely satisfying to tear apart Mr. Mittensworth and his horrifyingly grammatically incorrect and seriously flawed arguments, it is only encouraging him (By the way...your name is Mr. Mittensworth? If you want to be taken seriously, you should have chosen a different name).

3. @ Mr. Mittensworth and the "It costs too much" Side: Get over it. Please. And go away. Accept the fact that Microsoft ultimately controls the price of any Halo title Bungie produces, because that is what it is - a fact. Also, stop saying that we are paying for the same map pack again because we aren't. We are paying for three new maps under the same name with a "Part 2" added to it (Longshore for one, I can't seem to remember the other two off the top of my head). Considering alot of other 360 games on the market that start retail at $60 that are incredible failures as games (Terminator Salvation to name one that would be for this audience), this isn't a bad deal. And finally - If you want to pay a lower price, pick it up on Craigslist, Ebay, or simply wait awhile and it will eventually drop in price. Or here is a BRILLIANT idea - Rent it! Renting a game for one day at Blockbuster costs 3 dollars. I would hope that ODST would be worth at least $3 to you.

4. @ Snakerunner: Please get over your "Faithful Fan" obsession. There is a difference in blind faith and faith. When someone has blind faith, you get the crazy religious zealots that like to blow up abortion clinics and perform goat sacrifices. When you have regular faith, you have normal people. I consider myself to be a faithful fan, and that doesn't mean that I agree with everything that Bungie does. However, there hasn't been a Halo game to date that I haven't been excited about, and I always shell out the extra money for the best edition of the game, just because that's what I want to do. It doesn't mean I have to think it is worth it. When I got Halo 3 I felt slightly cheated because they downgraded the graphics from the initial announcement trailer (in order to fit the style of the previous games). However, I would have preferred a more gritty and realistic Halo. I also didn't like that they made it almost impossible to get out of the Halo 3 multiplayer maps, as I enjoyed doing that in my free time in Halo 2 (never during matchmaking though, just to be clear). That being said, thank you for telling the facts.

And...I'm done with my rant...I think. There could have been things I forgot to yell about, who knows. Though I know the majority of my efforts here are fruitless, as most people won't want to read the mass amounts of text I just produced. But I can only hope that my massive amounts of text will insight fear into those slayers of the English language and make them run away from here, because it is getting old and is REALLY making me not want to come to the Bungie forums anymore.

Gears 2 fans have it worse.

Not only did they pay 1600 points for 2 map packs - they now have to pay an extra 1200 for a new map pack and a deleted campaign chapter. Whereas new players, or players who held out, only have to pay 1600 for EVERYTHING listed.

I don't mind so much for Halo, considering they are good maps, and are worth it. It's a good bundle, and it'll free some space on my HDD so I can install ODST :P

i hope itsworth it,cause i feel ripped off

  • 06.15.2009 9:08 PM PDT

also first i thought that since bungie broke away from microsoft i thought they were independent and got to price their games. Now i realize MS prices them, so i propose that there be another cheaper version of the game that only comes with new content

Yes, Bungie broke away from Microsoft, but Microsoft still retains any rights to be the publisher of any games under the "Halo" name. If Bungie made their own game they could theoretically publish it themselves. But any Halo games they make will be handed over to Microsoft and they can do whatever they like with it. It is similar to an author and it's publisher, the author may write the books, but he has little to no authority as to how it is distributed.

If the campaign is as replayable as it looks to be, I think the extra money will be well worth it after having bought all the maps.

Damn right :) Heh, I do tend to get a bit wordy at times. I try not to rant, but that typically means that my frustrations build up over time, and then tend to 'explode', as seen above, though I try to keep my rants fairly calm. Venting is quite fun though...

Recon armor was not gifted or bestowed upon me. I earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. Road to Recon complete, on to the next challenge. Halo 3: 1750/1750, ODST: 1000/1000, Reach: 1400/1400.

Because you weren't smart enough to wait until the maps came out in ODST? They announced that all the maps would be packaged with ODST over a year ago, where have you been?

They have no plans to make the Legendary or Mythic Map packs free. I remember when they mentioned something like this a while back.
