Its not the money!!! Its the -blam!- point!!! Why am I being sold -blam!- I already own. I bought Halo 3 already. I have half the -blam!- being offered.

I can throw the second disc in to the middle of all the extra headsets and cables M$ has bundled in with new products. I DO NOT NEED IT!!!

Well, to some of us (such as myself), this is a great deal. Fortunately, I don't have Live, but I love playing split-screen with friends. So the campaign PLUS the new maps is a great deal for me.

Awsom!!!

I already spent $90 on what is being sold to me again.

Can you see why this bugs me?

The game is being sold as a standalone product. So just because you have the game, doesn't mean the potential buyer has already bought Halo 3. Its being sold with that in mind. And don't fight back now, giving me some sort of crap. It's a choice made so that any newcomer to the Halo series, and rest assured whenever a Halo game is released there are loads of newcomers, will get a content complete package.

So you think a newcomer to series would buy an expansion for 50 euros rather than the full game for 15 euros? (Price of Halo 3)

But, really, I don't have any choice but go with this sinister plan to gain more money and pay that 50 euros. And I bet it has a lot of content for the money because of the many play troughs.

Half the content is old stuff!

What new game is selling you a bunch of stuff you already own?

Edit: ubisoft does this all the time.

Orange Box. Of yeah, that stuff didn't add the price. And you could buy everything separately.

Its honestly crap crap again. Every new "halo" thing coming out gets overpriced. Mythic had that whole deal where you paid extra for Halo wars and got them early even then the maps are 10 bucks while other companies sell them for like way less.

What company sells map packs for less than $10?

Posted by: Billy kite 69
and Bungie wanted ODST around 40 or 50 and we're seeing 60 plus.

Yep, cause Micro$oft is run by money grubbing chimps.

Posted by: Billy kite 69
Okay well hey Bungie, when you release Halo Reach. Please Do us all a favor and put your pricing into the contract so that Microsoft can't kick us in the nuts again.

I thought that was what Bungie did with ODST, and it still proved ineffective. I could be wrong however.

Posted by: Billy kite 69
seriously Bungie grow a pair cause your fans are dropping mad money so you guys can eat.

I really don't know how to respond to that.

Posted by: Billy kite 69
ODST looks great and it better deliver better than Halo 3 cause Halo 3 was a hype machine, good but not as good as it could have been.

Yep, ODST looks like actual effort was put towards making it.

Posted by: Billy kite 69
And that whole Sargent Johnson thing? why can't we just get the full game for its full price. Why do we have to pay extra for stuff?

I didn't know you had to pay for Sargent Johnson, I thought that was a gift to those who preorder the game.

The extra stuff you are paying for is the disk with Halo 3's multi on it, which in my opinion should be in the LE or something like that so the standard can be set at it's original price.

just irks me.

I am pretty sure it irks just about everyone.

" And you could buy everything separately. " Thats the key. I just want the new stuff. I don't need to buy content a 2nd time.

Honestly if you look at it its prices just about right. 20 for the campaign and firefight (can change depends on how long the campagn is and how many maps we get for firefight). 10 for the heroic (even though its free now it was worth 10 ) 10 for legendary 20 for both mythic which equals 60. Thats reasonable for people who have not bought any map packs.

But the people who are getting screwed the most of this deal are the loyal bungie fans. This is the people who already bought all map packs and who would buy the second mythic. They basically have to buy it a gain which is really -blam!-.

What they should do it have a receipt where bungie sends to your email and it takes 10 dollars off of odst for the map packs you bought. so say if you bought all map packs you would get thirty dollars off.

i know this will probably never happen but this would be the best way to help out the loyal bungie fans. I know bungie dosent make the pricing but come on microsoft.

btw i am going to be buying the collectors edtion. i still love you bungie

Hell, we would pay $5 for a gallon of gas. We would pay double for health care. It is well worth it. But saying the price point is high is a legit complaint.

and I am sure bungie could put a pricing thing into a contract if they really wanted to.

Bungie are the developer, MS is the publisher.
Also Microsoft own Halo.

Go figure.

If Bungie said to MS now, "Right, we're not giving you the coding for ODST unless you tag it with an appropriate price", do you seriously think MS would say "Well screw you, we don't need Bungie for Halo. We've got a game called Halo kart in motion, so suck it."

Of course they wouldn't, MS would negotiate a better price, in all honesty. They wouldn't dare let ODST not get released.

So Bungie has the power to give us a more decent price, in my opinion. On the other hand though, I'm in no way against paying £40 for a new game, I'm just saying that if they really wanted to, Bungie could change it.

  • 06.13.2009 10:38 AM PDT

1) Bungie does not control the prices

2) You are getting a lot for $60

3) If you don't like it, stop complaining, and don't buy the game.

Fine no more complaining...

Then you guys can keep getting ass raped by M$

honestly, Halo Reach will probably be 100 dollars if you want the full game.

-blam!-s

Have you whiners not noticed that EVERY new Xbox 360 game is $60? At least its not $80 like the PS3 so stop complaining about it.

Take some deep breaths and relax.

Don't buy it if you don't want it. Problem solved.

He is saying that they should sell ODST the game only for like 40 $, and sell the Halo 3 MP disc with ODST as 60. So if he already has the maps then he doesn't need to buy a whole new disc for no reason. Then they can release part 2 of the Mythic map-pack over xbl for the usual 10$.

Exactly!

I don't understand why everyone is being an ass for you not wanting to buy the same thing twice. All ODST is is a re-shipment of Halo 3 with a different campaign, all the MP maps, and a new game mode. The rest of the stuff, from the core coding to Matchmaking, is IDENTICAL to Halo 3.

Now, as for me, I need to buy to two-disc package because my Halo 3 broke. But if I were to go out and buy a used Halo 3 again, it would be around 30-35 dollars, roughly. And seeing that most of the ODST content is two years old and being simply re-used, I don't want to pay more than 30-35 bucks for the old stuff, and then 10-15 more for the new stuff. That leaves it around 40-50 dollars. The perfect price.

So yes. The pricing is crap. I know Bungie had no say in its cost, I know it's all up to M$, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a too-high price.

  • 06.13.2009 10:45 AM PDT

Talk to the Bones

Halo 3: ODST comes with every thing that halo 3 gave except for it's campaign. The default pricing for most xbox games is $60, they only decrease a game's price after the game is released. If you think about it MS actualy underpriced it because, with the addition of Firefight+the bonus character for it(about $10) and 12 extra maps (about another $40 right there). The game could of been well over $100 by it's self if MS desided so.

Don't be such a money greedful basterd and whine about thing you don't even give at least 2 minutes of thinking.

So for you, a new game is a frankenstein created out of two years old MM added with few maps and new, shorter campaign and a play mode?

Really, it makes sense.

  • 06.13.2009 11:04 AM PDT

I have a job but 60 dollars is still a decent amount of money.

All I was trying to say is that we could get ODST for like 50 dollars or something. I've already paid for H3 plus the maps or they could maybe do it as DLC so I could buy ODST for 40 and have it on my xbox or something so I can just switch to the Halo 3 disk in my xbox when I am done with ODST.

There are better ways they could have done it, they took the easy (and more expensive) road.

also, all rare games release for 40 dollars.

I will still support Bungie and probably end up getting ODST I was just hoping for a little price cut.

its okay though Microsoft can make their money.
