How do you know that it is going to be better than most games out there?

Some people do feel ripped off by the price, so I don't see why they wouldn't complain.

Turn down the suck.

In order to be ripped off wouldn't they first need to buy and play the game?

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

people need to CRY MOAR about the price, cause all they can do is CRY MOAR!

The sad thing is that the people that complain about the price will just go and buy it anyways.

Bungie wanted the game to be priced at around $33.
Big reason why microsoft hiked the price is that ODST contains ALL the map packs:
-the new ones coming with the game (add $10 which is perfectly acceptable because they are new)
-Heroic (now free, so it doesn't matter)
-Legendary (still costs $10 in marketplace so add another $10 to the price of the game)
-And the recently released Mythic pack (add another $10)

The total price is now around $60.

The reason why some people are pissed (including me), is that to get the game we have to fork over an extra $20 for content we already own.

the reason some people are complaining about the price is because most of the people who are complaining have halo 3 and play the multiplayer and so when they buy ODST there pretty much buying the halo 3 multi player which they have already payed for

Thanks For EVERYTHING Bungie!
-I made the "Bungie employee killtages/blooper videos. I'm glad Bungie enjoyed them. Much <3 Bungie!

Yes. This is the only reason I'm not very happy. People that get ODST should at least get it free like a way of saying ''thanks for buying ODST''.

Because Microsoft hasn't already made enough money with Halo 3... Now we have to buy it again...

Either way, I really want the game, and I'm probably going to buy it anyway... :|

Or content that we're just fine without. If I'm buying Halo 3: ODST, it's because I want to play ODST. I don't want/need extra map packs or whatever. I'm not complaining about the price though, this is the perfect rental game for me.

NIERDRAIG!!!

its micromarketing

Caboose: "Oh my God!!!!! Andy!!! Your dead!!! You had so much to live for!!!! So much exploding to dooo!!!!"

I don't know why it's such a big problem for everyone. Every Triple A that I know of game released has started at a retail price of 59.99.

Understanding the price is basic business and accounting.
First you have to pay the guys who transported the game from the manufacturer to the destination.
You have to pay the game developers.
Then you have to pay the manufacturing company.
Not to mention some one has to pay for advertising, electric, water, and internet bills at Bungie HQ.
the list of costs can be enormous.

Then once the game is at the retailers (e.g. Best Buy) the guys at Best Buy have to do the same thing with their costs.
All business need revenue to pay costs and make a reasonable profit

Why So Serious?

Agreed. Bungie is definately giving us something special here. Stop complaining and deal with it. The price is final. Thats that.

it might not be better buy ya, also some games have a 3-5 hour campign and it cost 60 for the game, so why is this game getting all the people angry, it comes with firefight and all the maps

and is prob-3-5 hours long depends what difficulty u do/how much u explore

  • 06.13.2009 12:30 PM PDT

I never understood people complaining about the price, I drink that much money away everytime I go to the bar.

  • 06.13.2009 1:16 PM PDT

In regards to existing Halo 3 players. You must take into account the fact that the new content is just the ODST Campaign, Firefight, and the final 3 mythic maps. The rest of it is existing Halo 3 multiplayer content. So it can be understandable for people to feel frustrated when the pricing is based off all of those elements combined, yet a huge chunk of the game already exists and is possibly in our possession already (Halo 3).

Though in my personal opinion I don't care too much about pricing. To be honest I'd much rather play Halo 3 multiplayer with all the maps included on that separate disc that comes with ODST so that all the map content is there on the disc rather than on my HDD taking up a good amount of space, and is prone to corruption or tiresome hassles when it comes to transferring content around between boxes and what not.
