Subject: Mythic Map Pack Discount?

Posted by: Pitking4975
heres how i break it down

ODST:$30
Firefight:$10
Mythic part 2:$10
Reach beta:$10
The Halo 3 beta didn't cost a dime, so why should the Reach Beta, or any other ones for that matter. The reason for the Beta is to test the multiplayer, not give you something special like you think. Microsoft is just looking for a way to get more people on their side by pricing the game at $60.
Like they care about the fans anyway.

ODST is an EXPANSION

its not 60$ worth of content

its a scam

yeah! an expansion! which is why it has the same amount of playtime as a few other one player games?
only this has co-op and firefight?
and... holy cow... isn't an expansion?
edit: i'll give you it might come up a tad shorter than a few other 1-man campaign games, but:
co-op. firefight.

Stop complaining p13t3rm.

  • 06.19.2009 5:21 AM PDT

The OP has this crazy notion in his mind that the money he is spending is to purchase all the maps again. Can you not see that ODST has increased it's content dramatically to the extent that it can no longer be considered an expansion? When you buy ODST why don't you just chuck that second disc out the window becasue what you will be left with is what you essentially paid for.

Two makes there more than speakers.

Those maps are for people who don't have Xbox Live or who don't want to waste money into MP. Even then for people who have all the DLC map packs they still have a fair pay of $60 because of an open city campaign, Firefight, Halo3 multiplayer, Halo: Reach beta, and three new maps. So i don't see the problem in paying $60 dollars for that. We're lucky it's not over $60. (BTW I have all DLC map packs and isn't complaining about buying it again.)

The guys who were loyal to gears get it way worse than us since all the maps are coming out for 20 bucks in july. Its going to be basically a full game, so who cares if it is 60 bucks? Chill out already, posting on the forums over and over and over the same stupid thread isn't going to change anything.

The maps are a bonus that comes with the game, they are free, the game is $60 dollars. Bungie let us off easy, ODST could have been $80 with the maps.

You've got to be -blam!- kidding me.

It's people like you that are the reason gaming is all about the bottom line these days.

Anyhow - this topic is the reason I plan on renting ODST. Take away all the multiplayer maps which I already bought, and it doesn't look like such good value.

  • 06.19.2009 7:53 AM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Were you planning on buying ODST solely for the maps or something? Your incentive to buy ODST is to play the game. You get Halo: ODST, the game. It's not about the maps, the maps are just bonus.

Will I get any incentive to buying ODST and rebuying the same maps?

Considered by who? The people who are asking full price for it?

I don't really think I recognise their authority on that particular call, to be frank. I'll stick with common knowledge and accepted definitions. Making the jump from an expansion to a "full game" is not actually something achieved solely by charging more for it!

With the greatest respect, I don't think anyone else can tell me what it's 'about' or what my incentive is when it's my money we're talking about!

If I were to accept what you say, and consider the maps as an unnecessary bonus, that takes the value from being mildly questionable to being actually bad.

All this said, I don't actually think they should have some kind of rebate system. It would be a pain in the arse, it would cause more tears, and MS would never ever do something like that anyhow so it's moot really.

DMH | TMA | Blueprint

Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

What everyone's complaining about is that there should be a standalone feature of ODST-one that doesn't include the new maps+Halo 3 multiplayer. I agree, but if it means not having to swap cases for Halo 3 online, I'm fine with it.

Good point about the non-Xbox Live folks. Sorry if I double posted.

your in the same boat i am in and alot of other people. its not bungie's fault its microsoft. they will not probably let bungie do that.

you cant put a price on a beta buddy........

Because it's priceless.

The game is not an expansion in all fairness.

It has a full campaign like most games.
It features a multiplayer mode similar to GoW'a Horde mode so that is another full games feature.
They are adding in Halo 3's MM so that is effectively another feature to make it a full game.

  • 06.19.2009 9:09 AM PDT

I'm tired of these threads. They're everywhere. The price is set and no matter how much you complain it is not going to change.

its not so much that i have to pay for the maps but the fact that i only just bought the maps a few days before odst pricing was announced. I wouldent have bought the legendary and mythic map packs if i knew they would be free with odst. it cost me a total of about $40 ot get the map packs ($35 to get the points to download them, and $5 for the data usage to download them). but now it turns out that i could of waited 3 months and got them for free with a $99 game.

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

You have no clue how awesome ODST's going to be. It looks like an $80 game with just the campaign and Firefight to me. Grow up and dish out the cash, you're not paying extra for the maps. If you can't afford the game because of it's price, your money should go to something more important.

Sucks to be you, because I'm going to love every inch of ODST.

I salute your intelligence

  • 06.27.2009 10:20 PM PDT

Do you see the tigers too?!?!?

Honestly it seems fair to me, for one they have stated that ODST has turned into a game a lot larger than they expected it to, and I also do believe the campaign could be just as long as halo 3's current campaign, plus the new firefight mode and 3 maps for those that already have all the others for halo 3...it seems fair to me.
