I slowed the audio down in Sound Forge. He clearly says "noble" because it sounds like he says "no bull" instead of "no vuh".

If there was a place I could upload the audio to (wav, 161 kB, 1 second long) and post a link here, I would

You slowed it down in Forge? j/k

Any way, tho its already been said this is 1 of the best theory's so far.
The only thing about the trailer is spartan 259 and 320. If he is saying II 59 that would be the dead one. (couldn't remember his name) and III 20 that would be a spartan 3. wich is possible but they wouldn't be fully trained. i think the spartan 3 program began in 2537 so that would be just about right. But i kinda hope they dont put spartan 3s in.

As for noble vs nova its hard to tell, Bungie may want to keep us guessing.

If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Read the damn books. Even if the S-III program started later than the S-II, they still managed to get 3 batches of Spartans trained and ready to go to a mission. Alpha got pwned, Beta almost got fully pwned save 2 of them, and Gamma we know nothing about.

umm... i did read the damn books. im saying that siera 320 could be a S-III

I said brown.

I like your thinkin man, sounds plausible. Although when I first listened to it I heard noble too, but who knows.

  • 06.15.2009 9:05 AM PDT

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

Finally! A theory from someone who knows the books!

It makes sense, however I'm stil a bit confused about a SPARTAN that has a number in the 300's. The rest of it seems solid though.

You also said that even if it was possible" they wouldn't be fully trained". Im talking about that part of your post. I dont deny the fact that it could be an S-III. Hell, I actually want to know wtf happened to the 300 S-III. I thought they were going to add them on H3 (a reliable information source, i believe it was IGN claimed there were more Spartans on the campaign)

Most believable so far. I always enjoy reading these. Good job.

"The strength of the pack is the wolf, the strength of the wolf is the pack."

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me..."

ODST for life

I like it, very much like my own theory which is always good haha.

oh ok well i know i wasn't accurate, i wasn't trying to be bcuz i was using info from the top of my head about how long it would have took to train them. BTW S-III began in 2531. I too was exited for s3s in h3 because they realesed a pic of the E.V.A helm wich is the s3 helm. but yea ign was the ones that said it

There are no spartan-III's on Reach! If there were we would have known in Halo: The Fall of Reach. There was only one important battle and it was the only battle. This battle was when a Covenenant carrier went to the surface to unload troops to destroy the fusion generators for the MAC guns. If there were spartan-III they would have helped the spartans-II's protect the MAC generators and with that kind of help they wouldn't have lost. Spartan-III's aren't near as good as Spartan-II's. They don't come in a pair of two, they come in a company of hundreds, which were NOT at Reach.

Edit: EVA isn't the spartan-III helmet it just looks somewhat similiar because of the all-around faceplate. If you compare the two you will tell the huge difference. SPI looks ten times better.

For those people saying it is Spartan III's, S-III's had a different identification system than Spartan II's. It was a combination of letters and numbers, for example, B-292 was Spartan 292 from Beta Company.

I read every Halo book to date and I know what is realistic and spartan-III's have no tie to the Battle of Reach. THey weren't even open to the public at all, not even Halsey knew about them at first, or the other spartans not until Ghosts of Onyx.

Yea im too lazy to be really clear, however im fairly certain the E.V.A and S-III helms are the same. About S-IIIs being on Reach it is possible, there are a lot of S-III with unknown whereabouts. Id be happy if u could prove that there are no S-III on Reach tho...

Ok ive read the books to and you are right as far as we know S-III did not partake in the FoR. However time line wise it is not impossible. Bungie has the final say, the may decide to clarify the S-III whereabouts and say they where on reach. If it was IMPOSSIBLE i wouldn't be arguing about it but sense its all speculation my educated guess is as good as yours. (i say educated because im tired of all the people that played H3 and think they know whats going on)

We dont know for sure.

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Gamma_Company

They were deployed only a few weeks after the first battle of Reach. I doubt the battle on Reach took less than "a few weeks"

330 Candidates which were all accepted, and all survived, so that could explain Spartan 257 and 320 callsigns from the trailer.

Its highly improbable but you cant count out the possibility.

One thing a lot of people forget about is SPARTAN 458, Nicole. She was a SPARTAN II and who number was well into the 400s. Granted, she was created only for the game DOA 4.
Also, there was another group of SPARTAN IIs after the ones led by John-117, but I have no idea when they came into service or even when their training began, so please don't hold my own idiocy against me.

but wasn't gamma the first team out?

Gamma was the 3rd batch of S-III. Alpha and Beta being the first two. The Teams themselves, only 3 remained on Onyx. About 300 Spartans had already left the planet on a "mission" which they never explain before the Onyx incident.

The whole Nicole thing is bullcrap. Thats its not canon. As for the 2nd batch of S-II, we dont know anything about them. Mendez said that they would go train S-II but he returned to active duty and then he joined Kurt to train the S-III. Chances are that they never got to work on t he 2nd batch of S-II due to their high cost.
