Subject: Should damage from falls be re-implemented?

I don't know about you guys, but I've always wanted to see some massively tall objectives map (I think there was one on Halo CE, but I never played the multiplayer too much) in some of the newer Halo games. However, the problem with having such a map is that the attackers or the defenders on the top part of the map could easily jump down to the lower part of the map to get to the other base. In Halo CE, there was fall damage, so people couldn't do this and really get away with it unscathed, but because there is no fall damage in Halo 3, it breaks any of those maps unless you put time and effort into making sure there is no way to jump down, but that confines fighting to narrow corridors, when one might want to create situations where you can see the other guy but you can't quite reach him.

Should fall damage be reimplemented to make maps like these possible? As a custom game option? Should it be in the default gametypes? How far must you fall to take damage?

I think adding fall damage would make Halo a very different game. But I do think that the option to turn it on/off in custom games is a good idea.

Yar-har!

Well, maybe we'll see how fall-damage works out with ODST and the current Halo generation. Personally, I think it should be an option for Custom Games. Plus, I think it all depends on what type of armor players will be using. If we are using some sort of Mark VI variant, or an upgraded Mark V armor, then fall damage won't be a problem.

Bring back fall damage, but let people turn it off for customs if they want.

Signatures are for squares.

Fall damage should have to be back in the game, because the only reason fall damage was gone, is because Mark VI had a gel-layer built into it.

IV had that layer too, but the Spartans had to pump it up to dangerously high levels which could have resulted in nitrogen embolism (like from coming up too fast in Scuba diving, you can develop an air bubble in your vains, brain or even a lung, and that could kill you) in order to get rid of the damage they sustained in their fall to Reach (and presumably just to get rid of any type of fall damage, since the Chief's levels in H1 would have probably been the standard "healthy" levels since he kept it like that for the whole game)

Considering it's before Halo: CE and you won't have Mark VI armor, I think it should be. Optional in customs would be perfect; you can never have too many options for customs.

I agree with this statement.

It would make the game a little better in my opinion.
