Just as long as I can bash some Sangheili skulls in this prequel, then I'll be in good spirits.

In my opinion, the Jiralhanae in both Halo 2 & 3 were far too predictable, especially when one of them goes "Berserking".

not trying to be mean but i think this maybe the most predictable game they have made because they told us that we already know the end.

None taken.

I'm just worried that somehow, the Elites will take a place in the back seat & the Brutes will be in full swing as the main foe for Halo: Reach. It happened in ODST, so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise that it would happen again.

  • 06.14.2009 7:17 PM PDT

Ya probably, but most likely we will see some new foes as well as oldies because Bungie can hear what the people want just look at like half the forums. They are about who they want to see in Halo: Reach. And for the Multiplayer, It has to be a whole new experience. Because the old matchmaking is getting a little sloppy. But I will still play Halo 3 and ODST.

  • 06.14.2009 10:24 PM PDT

I mean all people have to do is play Halo 1, 2, & 3, ODST and read the books its not that hard.
It tells you hints in the previous games but the books tell so much.

lol, no one's sure that it's not about time travel.
Read First Strike, Dr. Halsey finds a forerunner artifact that actually takes them back in time... reach fell the 22nd of September, but after they exit slip space, the time stamp goes to September 12th.

Halsey even says that the artifact bent time so that john would return in time to actually find the crystal and rescue them.

Reach WAS NEVER GLASSED FULLY, both the poles were, but CASTLE base was left unharmed because of what lay beneath it in the old titanium mines: the artifact.

No one is sure what it's about, so stop pretending that you know already.
Did Bungie SAY that it was a prequel?

Explore every possibility.
Remember bungie said the second game would take place on earth?
2 levels; then we were back at another Instillation.

  • 06.14.2009 10:54 PM PDT

Well thank you for that because I haven't read the books so i didn't know about the time travel crystal. And i agree about how the planet was never fully glassed. But also i based my idea from all the facts that have been shown and also i think bungie said it was a prequel but i could be wrong.

"ESE SNIPER"

When the the person over the com channel gives the numbers (sierra 320 and sierra 259) couldn't this just be their ships id tag or their groups name? Nothing in the book states that any Spartan had these service numbers, so this may be the answer to all the confusion. Don't over think this.

  • 06.14.2009 11:10 PM PDT

Thats why before I said that it could be a Spartan ll and a Spartan lll talking but I'm not a 100% sure but it could be like a Spartan ll 059 (which could mean 259) and lll 020 (320)

It probably not that but that is very possible because Bruce (Spratan 059) was a Spartan ll not a Spartan l or lll

  • 06.14.2009 11:30 PM PDT

I'm sorry if my post seemed a little perturbed, but I really do think I make a compelling point.
I could have sworn that in Halo 2 I heard someone refer to the chief as Sierra 2 117.

  • 06.15.2009 12:29 AM PDT

Well you are right because Chief is Spartan ll but Chief only calls himself 117, not 2 117 and everyone else calls him Master Chief.

Halo 3 ending is neither a pre- or post- halo trilogy Reach.

If it was pre-halo1, there would be orbital stations and Mac cannons everywhere.

If it was post-halo3, there would be debris from said orbital stations and mac cannons. Also, there wouldnt be shining lights from buildings on the ground. because glass doesnt have lights in it.

As far as the halo: reach trailer vs halo 3 ending, the stars are a different colour.

Kill this thread, halo 3 ending planet is a teaser trailer for the eventual reawakening of MC and cortana, in a new trilogy, being aimed as a system seller for xbox360s successor.

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

what bothers me is that people think that the caricters on the banner are spartans...

but all of the spartans were useing mark V...chief just had mark V1.0 or majolnier...

they looked identical...those charicters are obviosly marines..one might be a spartan but the others are not...

Join the SIP now! were a fun and active community that play games the way theyre meant to be played. make friends, have fun and be part of something special! The Spartan I Project

ah yes but the armor is form fitting, the spartans couldnt have been idenitcle in size, and some recieved new parts to enhance specific abilities, down in the tunnels with dr halsey so each spartan might lok slightly different now

I don't think time travel is as stupid as a lot of people are saying. In the book First Strike I remember it talking about time travel using the crystal they found and slipstream space. I also remember theories way back in the Halo CE days when guilty spark said he thinks he has seen Master cheif before. Which could have meant he traveled back in time at some point.

Time Travel (which has never been seen in Haloverse) =/= Time Dilation (which is a property of the Forerunner Crystal)

Actually I remember the book saying the covenant could use the crystal to go back in time and destroy humans before they could even fight back. So I don't see why people keep saying time travel is a stupid idea when they haven't read everything yet.

What are you talking about?!? Reach has been destroyed for years post-halo ant the reason y it was lit up was because everything was made of glass and the star was brightening the surface and also there is no atmosphere so there wont be orbital stations or MAC cannons anywhere to be found they would drift off into space.

time travel isn't stupid but there was no crystal involved with Master Chief and I will review both the teaser trailer and the legendary ending again to see what is up.

  • 06.15.2009 1:44 PM PDT

And please don't tell me to kill this thread.

Page number and paragraph please. I don't remember anything like that, but I'll be going through the book (it's FS if you didn't know) and trying to find that.

Actually not all of Reach was glassed and the biosphere was left intact. The Covenant and humans found a Forerunner installation underneath Reach. There was no way the Covenant were going to glass that. A few spartans and Dr Halsey ultimately found a crystal inside this Forerunner base. The Covenant then persued them to retrieve the "Holy Relic".

So Reach has part of its surface that wasn't glassed and a breathable atmosphere. Incidently the Base where the MC was trained in witht he other Spartans is also in the non-glassed area.

I think if the planet at the end of Halo 3 is indeed Reach then the Master Chief and Cortana are returning long after reach has been destroyed. The Covenant are now defeated and finally the Master Chief can go home. For that matter Cortana can go home as well.

Their "home" may be in ruins but it ultimately could be rebuilt and Reach could once again be resettled. A large part of the planet was glassed but perhaps a bit or terraforming could be all that is really needed to make Reach "nice" again..

I quite like the idea of the MC and Cortana going home :) . That also eludes to Reach as the MC anc Cortana remember what happened to their home. HR may be a dedication to that memory.

I am suprised noone has thought about that simple possibility. Maybe the Master Chief and Cortana are simply going home. Possibly it is Reach. Reach is relatively close to Earth and could be where the last half of the Frigate the MC was on exited slipspace. There was a Forerunner installation on Reach so the Forerunner slipspace network may have had Reach as the closest exit point to Earth at the time the Frigate was cut in two. It is possible :)

See! It seems very possible and also another question... what would happen if he landed on a glassed portion of the planet?

An easy $60 dollars for Bungie to show you the Chief crashing into the glassed part of a planet for a game would happen.

acutely they already have a prequel halo wars. but bungie didn't make it and people understood it was a prequel better. but really the trailer says from the beginning so it is ovolisly the beginning

  • 06.15.2009 3:45 PM PDT

for years? try like, 1/2 a year. Halo1 begins with you leaving the battle of reach which began at the end of august, and MC is back on earth at the start of halo2 in late october, which results in the forerunner dreadnought arriving at earth some time mid-late november.

no atmosphere? fine i guess thats possible since there isnt anything to produce one after its glassed, but there is still GRAVITY to keep the orbital stations(aptly named as they ORBIT the planet) and mac cannons, in orbit. they cant drift off.

it just isnt reach.
