for years? try like, 1/2 a year. Halo1 begins with you leaving the battle of reach which began at the end of august, and MC is back on earth at the start of halo2 in late october, which results in the forerunner dreadnought arriving at earth some time mid-late november.

no atmosphere? fine i guess thats possible since there isnt anything to produce one after its glassed, but there is still GRAVITY to keep the orbital stations(aptly named as they ORBIT the planet) and mac cannons, in orbit. they cant drift off.

it just isnt reach.

Just look at the teaser trailer and ending it shows the same plantet and design on the planet

oh, no this game possibly be about Reach. That 'planet' looks more like the upside down dome of helmet-less Darth Vader actually.

It all makes sense now; The real purpose of the rings was to open a massive stargate wormhole to the Star Wars galaxy!!!!!!

So what did we learn in this forum?????

  • 06.15.2009 6:07 PM PDT

It's definatly in there. My friend has the book now though and I only have Fall of Reach at the moment.

  • 06.15.2009 6:12 PM PDT

What is definitely in there?

  • 06.15.2009 7:00 PM PDT

Well... I can see this thread is dying unless someone wants to add to it or comment... =[

Cave Johnson here, we're done!

PS: If you are reading this comment while imagining my voice, don't panic. That's just a side effect of the testing.

Well, what I have learned is that you are quick to make assumptions.

Now with all the current data, the game seems to be pointing at reach. But the thing is that we can not just automatically assume that it is all about reach. Neither can we assume that the planet in the trailer is also reach.

As of the moment all we can do is make a simple opinion based off what we have seen, not as fact. It could be about time travel. I'm not saying that it is, but from what has been shown to us, we really can't be sure on it. The trailer is also not 100% proof either, I mean a lot of trailers produced by not only bungie and several other gaming companies often have nothing to do with the game itself, or it has different variations between the two.

So don't go off saying why people "don't get it", because there is no real hard evidence saying that it is only about reach.

So, don't be so sure of what you know now, be a little open to insane or irrelevant theories because not only does it make you realize what can be out there, but it also makes you realize that without hard evidence, anything can happen.

Again, I'm not in support for time travel theories, but I'm also not in support of it being only about reach.

  • 06.15.2009 7:20 PM PDT

I didn't say it has to be only about Reach but it has to have it in there its in the freaking name.

Of course, but you do state that "people are stretching Reach father than anything it was planned to be"

The thing is that you don't know exactly what it is planned to be about. And just because it has Reach in the name, doesn't mean it has to be about reach. It could be about the spartans secret mission to capture a covenant vessel and take it to their homeworld to capture a prophet.

We don't know what it is about so stating that it has to be about reach is a knot in your argument.

You have to leave yourself open to pretty much anything until you know exactly what it is. And at the time, you don't know what it is.

I'm not saying that I do know, but I am saying that I know what it could be. I know the possibilities and not the facts.

Its a typo. It should say Fail but they accidentally hit shift+"i"

This proves you can do most things people say you can't.

Well,

If the game is going to follow the book "Fall of Reach" Which it most likely is since it can't wonder from what is already fact.

The time travel idea is stupid for many reasons:

1, its HALO: Fall of reach. not Halo 3: Fall of reach or Halo 4: Fall of reach!
2, It would fall so far from what happened in the book it would just be F***** up
3, There are more, just read other posts.

To make the games name Fall of Reach and then do it about earth or a secret mission would be utterly stupid. Its like saying we are going to make a shooter game, then releasing a Bunny love game :( .

And there is no way they are glassing the planet (Suggesting the planet is reach) as in the book it mentions HOW a planet is glassed by the covenant and that is not how they do it.

Thats my opinion, but the Time Travel Theorists should shut it! But if your right about the Time Travel Theories then I will chop my xbox up into tinie, tiny pieces then eat them all cause that how sure I am that MC don't travel back in time.

I know but what i haven't done was post my theory here yet. I was going to do it in the morning but now that I am awake, I will post it as a reply here

OK, before I go any farther I just want to say I did not read the books so this may be inaccurate.
#5 planet Reach is at the end of Halo 3 but NOT THE SAME REACH as this one
#6 Halo: Reach is just there to tell you what happened then and how it fell
#7 The Reach at the end of Halo 3 may be Reach after it fell and John(Spartan 117) just landing on the aftermath of whatever happens in Halo Reach the game.

The chances of the legendary ending planet being Reach are incredibly slim. For a start, its a different coloured star. Reach was fairly close to earth, MC is on the other side of the galaxy. Reach was glassed, there is nothing to rebuild.

I know but what if it wasn't rebuilt? He could still land on the glassed planet?

why would it matter if he went back to reach AGAIN after it fell? He was already there after it fell. That where he met the other spartans and hasley. in first strike

Soffish: Do not eat!

Like what is the MC going to when he time travels back to Reach? Team up with himself? So like then we would have 2 MC's and 2 Cortana's...any one who thinks this needs to go stick thier head in a toilet and flush themselves...

  • 06.15.2009 11:12 PM PDT

Loyalty is all I have.

for one thing a planet being glassed shouldn't be taken literally, it doesn't turn the surface into a nice bright shiny piece of glass that can be broken through. The surface would resemble obsidian, a dark glassy substance than can be fairly thick.

Well here we go a (medum sized) report of the Battle of Reach. Please note that it also includes the Skirmish of Reach when John comes back. Also, it is possible that they show some other stuff in flashbacks or whatever about before Reach.
Here we go:

At the Remote Scanning Outpost Fermion a guy sees a irregularity in some objects traveling through Slipspace. He tries to match them up to any known Covenant ships but finds no match. Then he notices that if all the diagrams are put together, it makes the same shape as the Slipspace irregularity. He alerts Reach, and destroys all data in the facility killing himself in the process (i think). Then the Covenant drop out of Slipspace.
The UNSC had a bunch of Super-MACs that owned the -blam!- out of (some) of the Covenant fleet. So they sent down dropships (containing thousands of infantry, tanks, banshees, etc.) to destroy the generators powering the MACs. All the SPARTANs (except for John, Linda and James) are sent groundside to protect the generators alongside a bunch of marines. The SPARTANs ship (pelican/bird) is shot down while inside Reach's atmosphere. The SPARTANs all survive except for a few.
John, Linda and James (I'm pretty sure) go to Gamma Station where a ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) prowler (a form of ship) is docked.
It has Nav (navigation) data that can lead the Covenant to the Sol system (our solar system). The three SPARTANs successfully destroy the data but James is lost (in space, his booster pack malfunctioned) and Linda is critically wounded. John helps Linda onto a Pelican (with Sergeant Johnson and some other marines) and flies to The Pillar of Autumn.
In the end the generators are destroyed and the Covenant comes in and glasses (they shoot super heated plasma at the planet, heating it to such a degree that it first burns, then gets "glassed") the planet except for a specific area on the planet.
A few remaining SPARTANs flee to the part where the Covenant didn't glass. CASTLE base, a ONI outpost, was under a mountain (inside the ground) was the only area spared by the Covenant. The five remaining SPARTANs (not including John and Linda) go there and meet Dr. Halsey. (the creator of the SPARTAN-II program). She reveals that she is the last human down here, and that she is going to set off a huge pile of explosives under the base when the Covenant tried to get in.
Before blowing it up, she fixes up the SPARTANs (clones some extra lungs, patches up their cuts, etc.) and gives them some new weapons and armor upgrades. Then they go bellow the base into some mining tunnels. They detonate the explosives, and escape.
After five days, Fred (I think) found a secret entrance into a Forerunner artifact. They found a crystal, but when picked up, it emitted (harmless) radioactivity that alerted the Covenant to their location. They stay low for a while, while the Covenant tries to kill them and steal the crystal.
At this time. John comes back into the system, after the events of Halo: CE, with a captured Covenant vessel (Ascendant Justice, with several marines including Johnson) and comes to the rescue, they all escape on the Ascendant Justice with the crystal.

Basically it could be anything in here, or something else as well... I dunno, we'll find out after ODST is released I guess...

So what happens to Linda on the PoA? Does she die to her wounds? I assume Halo CE begins from when the Pillar escapes Reach (that's what ive been told anyways)?

It all makes sense that Halo: Reach would be a prequel.

  • 06.16.2009 10:41 AM PDT

i know prequel is what it is but time travel could be used in the future but for now this is a PREQUEL

  • 06.16.2009 4:13 PM PDT

Oh yeah It's Rayzed.

The planet will be glassed at the end of Reach because we already know what is gonna happen. But Master Chief is gonna crash land on the glassed planet after Halo 3. WAY after Reach fell.

Crashing here will mean death for Chief. Glassed planets have no atmosphere. If he doesn't die from the huge wave of Gamma Rays, his Oxygen will fun out in a matter of hours.

CE does, but she's dead by the time she's in Cryo. And she's dead throughout CE. However during First Strike Chief recovers her Cryo Pod, and after eventually linking up with Halsey and the remaining Spartans sans Gray Team Halsey revives her and brings her back from the dead. Linda is currently one of the handful of living Spartans and in the even you didn't know, is the best known sniper is the galaxy.

Jon-117 (Master Chief) is from the First-Generation Spartan II Program. There was 200 in the Spartan II Program, which points out that the Second-Generation Spartan II Program is in effect.
