Subject: From the Beginning, You Know the End.

Did anyone see that in the beginning of the teaser?
"From the Beginning, You Know the End."

What do you think it means?

  • 06.14.2009 3:45 AM PDT

It means that the people who read the book (The Fall of Reach) will know the end of the game. Obviously you haven't...

It's like those hip musicians with their complicated shoes!

If violets are blue, then what colour is violet?

No it doesn't. It means that from the begining, you know how the whole war with the Covenant ends. The battles on the Halos, the battle on Earth, all of that.

  • 06.14.2009 3:55 AM PDT

It means that everyone knows that everybody on Reach dies (except for the pillar of autumn) and the planet is glassed.

''From the Beginning''. It means the beginning of the Battle of Reach.
''You Know The End''. For who read Fall of Reach, it means that they know the end of the Battle of Reach because they read the book.

The AR is an awesome weapon, RESPECT IT AS SUCH!!!

It means that from the start of the game, you already know how it will end.

but thats the obvious answer, i think its BASED on the book, not using every scene of fall of reach into the game, thatwould make the game uninteresting to readers of the book, as they'll know the ending, and everything that happens in the game

I don't know why people keep mentioning the book. You don't have to have read the book. Reach fell to the Covenant shortly before the events of Halo: CE. If you're at all familiar with the backstory of that game, you know the Pillar of Autumn only ended up where it was because it was fleeing from the Covenant after they annihilated Reach.

You can't outrun Death for ever.

But you can make the bastard work for it.

HALO 3

It meens you can tell how the war will end from how all the battles went at the beginning. The UNSC were losing alot of battles so you can guess that we would lose the war.

pfft, no.
i read the book. hell every book i know is out on halo (any new ones after Cole Proto.?) and while i can imagine how it happens, it will also be a game, so there will be parts you can change.
say Johnson (omg we might play as Johnson?!?!?!?! lol) were to duck behind cover, BR a few grunts, then nade a brute.
we could run in ARs blazing leavign a trail of death wherever we go, and not stop.
more importantly, the training thing with the 'rines would be fun, so would riding the giant tractors.
i am thinking of the right book, right?

No, that is not. As others have said, it means that we already know how the Battle of Reach ends: the Covenant glass the planet completely after the artifact they are trying to find is destroyed.

This, except for the fact that the story of Reach carries on into First Strike, so people will have to have read both to know how it truly ends, in my opinion.

actually cortana was interested where the coordinate on the museum rock MC recovered lead to and why the covenant were so interested in it. so cortanas curiosity was the reason they eneded up at halo but they were fleeing the covenant so you were half right .

i think it means that, debatebly, The Battle of Reach is what really sparked the human covie war, and you know what happens when the war is over

Reach is to Beginning as the destroying of the flood is to end

No, Harvest is where the war started. It means from the beginning of the game, you already know how it ends.

As in, you will know that the UNSC loses in this game.

Umm. the part with the tractors and marine recruits, that's Contact: Harvest your thinking of.
Also to the other reply: Yes, I meant that it's based on it, possibly with elements from First Strike.

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I wanna be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

Starting from the beginning because you know the end.

It means from the beginning of Halo Reach we know Reach falls to the Covenant. Hence the slogan "Falls 2010"

If you didn't know Reach fell to the Covies, sorry Bungie and I spoiled it for you.

Dogs, everywhere

Its obviously means its a prequel but you don't need that trailer to know that...

EX: I killed some guy in movie 1 (from the first movie i now know the end)
This guy killed my family in the prequel to movie 1 (now I know how the movie 1 started) simple
