Cave Johnson here, we're done!
PS: If you are reading this comment while imagining my voice, don't panic. That's just a side effect of the testing.
In this forum, I'll debunk a good amount of theories about Halo: Reach. Yes some of them are ridiculous but there are some that are convincing but do not fill the necessary holes to be right.
As a disclaimer to all current theories: Halo: Reach is a prequel, that is all that we truly know about the current game. All theories saying that it is time travel, or it is about the battle of reach, is not correct due to the fact of our limited knowledge about the game coming out (hopefully) in 2010.
1.)Time Travel Theory:
This theory suggests that the planet that Master Chief was floating towards is the same planet in the Halo: Reach video. The problem with that is the planet in the Legendary ending is not glassed and is covered in forerunner structures Just take a look in this picture. Along the planet is forerunner structures showing that it could not be reach. The next idea along with the time theorist theory is that it could be the planet but in the future. The problem with that though is that it is a prequel, and could not take place after the original 3 Halo games.
2.)Battle of Reach Theory:
Although this is the strongest theory with very little holes in it, it still can not hold all the water in the bucket. The theory suggests that the battle takes place only on reach and there only. It also says that the chief can not be the leader seeing as he was not on the original battle of reach. The problem with that is the silhouette shows otherwise. On the battle of Reach, Fred was the leader of the spartans. He is most commonly known as the second best guy next to chief, and he has a knife that he holds dear. In the silhouette the person with the knife is only in the background and not the leader of the team shown. What this means is that it can't be just about Reach when the leader is not even in the leading position.
Another hole is of the spartans mentioned in the video itself. Spartan 259, and spartan 320. Apparently these are class 2 spartans, which is completely unheard of in both of the books Fall of Reach and First Strike. If the game stayed true to the books, then there would be no spartans 259 or 320, the original spartan numbers never went that high.
I would also like to mention that we do not know for 100% what this game will exactly be about. It has no evidence as to which planet this is. It could be Sigma Octanus IV for all we know. So don't go off saying that you know where it is exactly, because the truth is that you don't. I don't know either what it is exactly about, and I don't want to get myself stuck into thinking it as something else and then have it turn out to be completely wrong.
So enough with the theories, enough with the educated guesses, Just post them out as a possibility rather than a fact. It's so easy to come up with some insane idea about the game.
Like this one: I think that the game is based off of the spartans that were on the ship Spirit of Fire after the end of Halo: Wars. The ship traveled to reach and and it's spartans helped with the ground fight before the ship was broken in half (see video). So this means that bungie is making a RTS based on the spartans in the Spirit of Fire.
^See how ridiculous that is, it has plenty of holes in it.
So again, enough with the theories, keep it only as possibilities and not theories.
