Subject: Halo: Reach PC?

It means modifyed duh...

  • 06.18.2009 9:22 AM PDT

You do know that halo was ment to be played with the controller right?

  • 06.18.2009 9:30 AM PDT

Yes, it should be for pc, but the custom maps should be able to be ported t the 360; you can compile the map on your pc, then upload it to your FS. 360 owners can then download your map off of that and play a custom map, without a pc.

I think one problem with this is that it eliminates DLC, so ms doesn't get any money since everyone could just replicate everything used in any DLC, for free. That could be why they don't want a map maker...

Why are so many people saying no? I personally would love to have as many people as possible enjoy the Halo experience.

Yes, And most of ya'll don't have the slitest idea whats an editing kit and how it works.
360s FPS is capped at 30FPS, while PCs can go much higher than that, the fact that compared to the PCs, 360s are low end hardware.

  • 06.18.2009 12:56 PM PDT

It is my latest cultural research project! By randomly saying LOLWIN to semi-funny replies on the Halo 3 forum, I hypothesize that a temperary self-esteem boost will be present.

And once they read this, they will be a little worse off than before.

For everyone saying no, how does having a PC version available affect you in any way >_>.

I would probably buy it for both. Anyway, PC is capable of having better graphics, more stuff, and larger multiplayer rooms.

I think a console plays smoother, but PC games have so much more expandability... Also, consider a broadened halo community if cross platform play is made possible.

he's wright, most of you dont,
an editing kit can do anything in the game that bungie could do, make new vehicle, weapons, and characters, it could make already existing non-drivable vehicle drivable such as scarabs, pelicans, phantoms, aa wraiths etc. it could create entire maps.
for an idea of these maps check out the popular Halo CE map downloading site http://hce.halomaps.org

wait if there's an editing kit wouldn't that mean a noob would go around with an AR shooting lazers?

No, an editing kit only works if:
A:It is released the way you edited it
or
B: if you are host

Yes. All the people who want it soully on the 360 are ignorant -blam!-s.

I'm a mac so I don't care

  • 06.18.2009 3:24 PM PDT

Just because you can modify it doesnt mean everyone is gonna go out and make an assault rifle fire lasers.
There are many great maps out there for Halo CE. With great gameplay and/or great environment.

Sure, eventually. Maybe a year after launch. Bungie can do a much better job, though, if they only have to worry about getting it out on one platform at first.

No. It means we'll get cool mods like this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ILNC_A3ZdY

THat was Gears of War in case you didn't know.

My god, Console gamers are VERY uneducated. They don't even know what the word "mod" means let alone if it's good or bad. What a bunch of stupid -blam!-s.

Not saying ALL console gamers are stupid -blam!-s, but most are. This thread is proof.

...I know C++, C#, and some Java...I play plenty of mods for other games, but halo (in my opinion) should be left as perfect as it is. Do I qualify as a stupid -blam!- for saying halo should be left alone?

Maybe some custom maps by the community wouldn't be bad though. Otherwise, we'll have n00bz using mods where an ar is 1 hit kill and snipers hit the entire game worth of kills with a no-scope.

You have lost all typing privileges in this topic. GTFO, Halo was originally going to be made for the Mac, a computer not a console. It was until Microsoft bought Bungie that it went to console. Have your story straight or don't reply.

I counted about $1000 every 4-5 years. Am I right? But with 360 it's like $200 or so for however long you take care of it, cause upgrades come FREE so if you get reach for around sixty plus a new 360 it rings up to about $260, a new PC that is able to handle halo plus a new reach would ring up to a little over $800. Get my point? AND bungie probably only cares about money, so they make $60 for 360 and only around $45-50, they make more money that way.

You should really be more specific when calculating something. If your saying it's going to cost $1000 dollars for upgrades every 4-5 years your wrong and the 360 doesn't have hardware upgrades just software. When we all got the the NXE it didn't make the graphics better or make the 360 run faster, it just made it more user friendly and fixed any application errors they had.

It seems that the Xbox 360 owners forget that no matter what Halo: Reach is coming to the 360. This vote is for a port to the PC not an exclusive.

My god, you have absolutely NO idea what you're taking about! This is ironic seeing that you're a coder.

dost though understandest me?

well, seeing as how we have no idea what Reach is gonna look like (from a gameplay perspective), It's a little tough to call whether or not an editor would be good for it.

but generally every game is better for PC, for the reasons that everyone here has already stated. my personal favorite is not having to pay for multiplayer, that's why I have copies of TF2 for PC and 360

  • 06.22.2009 7:52 PM PDT

Please, PLEASE do not send me meaningless messages. It pisses me off.

Theres no point in doing it for the PC because the maps will always be the same. Same for weapons and armor.

  • 06.26.2009 2:42 AM PDT

It will, just a couple of years after the xbox release.

And here is some examples of Halo CE modding

To the interwebs!

I don't care really, I'm getting it for the Xbox regardless of whether or not it comes out for the PC. You'll be waiting a while, Halo 3 is out on PC 2010, 3 years after initial release. So Reach presumably will be 2013 for PC.

  • 06.26.2009 7:13 AM PDT

it would be smart for microsoft to sell more 360's by making it an xbox exclusive...

No.

They could sell more EVERYTHING by making it a microsoft exclusive.

  • 06.26.2009 6:45 PM PDT

Instead of taking time to make it on the pc just spend extra time making it better on the xbox.

and yes i am a greedy xbox drone

It's going to be the same game either way. You act like a port is REBULDING the whole game from scratch.

I -blam!- hate humans.

They're so god damn two faced. We should just get rid of them all.
