Okay, IMO if you play Halo: Reach with Project Natal will be completely STUPID! Think about it... how will you turn around? How will you reload? NO! I'm not flaming, I'm expressing my opinion to the community. Now, picture yourself playing Halo: Reach with Project Natal in the future... someone is behind you... you turn around in real life, but wait! Your not facing the t.v. screen! SHOCKER! So how will you play Halo without turning around? I think Project Natal is great but it is not made for the GAME! So stop making stupid threads like "PROJECT NATAL AND HALO: REACH! FTWBBQSAUCE!"

Hey, don't be a zumbo! Join Halo Wars RTS!
I'm right 97% of the time. Who cares about the other 4%?

I think Natal is stupid, anyways. I would hate to have to have it for Reach.

I didn't jump... so many people in this forum are jumping... they are saying "Halo: Reach should be with Natal"... it is so annoying!

You can't spell "Slaughter" without "Laughter"

So you can express your opinion, but they can't?
Shame.

Yes they can, but they don't realize what the gameplay would be like. That is my problem...

Okay. As long as you're only pointing out the flaws in their theories and not saying they aren't entitled to theorize. Whatever.

I honestly can't see how ONLY natal could be used in a shooter, but it could be used to make the game more interactive, in addition to the regular controller. Maybe you could "throw" a grenade? Or "beatdown" opponents? I dunno....

What gameplay flaws are there? I think I can fix some of them:
1) If you turn around you won't be facing the t.v. : easy solution, just use subtle movements like just turning your body 30 degrees and your player would continue to turn around until they are facing backwards.

2)Movement : the space in your room you are playing in is smaller than the map you play in. A solution: have a centered spot on your floor and the closer you get to the t.v. the faster youll move forward.

3) Jumping: the same with turning around, subtle movements. Moving your body up but not necessarily jumping would make your player jump.

So IMO natal could work very well in FPS games.

I would love if it had NATAL. Obviously not full body, but in the way that Six-axis is used.

You still hold a controller, but something beneficial that involves movement is added.

The problem with that is that it goes against the philosophy of what Natal is all about - sure, incorporating a controller can be a nice extension as to what you can do with Natal, but it doesn't exactly seem plausible.

I understand, but would it be the same Halo feeling? IMO no...

Does it need to be? Maybe for you it won't but for me it could. Both of us don't know how the feeling will be since we both haven't played halo with natal. Maybe natal will give us a deeper experience with halo.

EDIT: I do realize you said IMO, I know you didn't state a fact.

I agree, I hope it won't be there. Natal should be left for kid games. Games like Halo require precision aiming, something that won't work without a controller.

Project Natal seems more accustomed to sports games, plat formers, fighting games, and maybe puzzle games, but genres like FPS would most likely not work and not be developed.

  • 06.14.2009 8:20 PM PDT

I think lag would also be increased in MM. Also, having guests play would be a PAIN. Probably literal pain too lol

No, it's their problem. You need to learn not to jump to conclusions about what they do and do not realize. Maybe you are the one who does not understand their idea.

  • 06.15.2009 12:58 AM PDT

Until it happens don't say the idea is bad and it won't work because no one has seen it used with any sort of shooter yet or any game except for the games demoing Natal at E3.

If Bungie does do something with Natal for Halo Reach i'm sure Bungie will concoct something innovative and awesome to control the game.

IMO if Bungie did use Natal to control Halo:Reach then about 4-6 months after the games launch you'd see a massive decline in over weight children all around the world and even with other game we're going to see the same effect Microsoft truly is revolutionizing gaming and home entertainment with this and in a few years obesity may not even be a huge issue in the US anymore.

So if a mass fan base game like Halo could use Natal it could be beneficial as well fun and as it is with natal the whole "Video games help make kids fat" debate goes out the window when natal becomes mainstream.

  • 06.15.2009 1:21 AM PDT

I don't think it would very plausible for Bungie to make Halo:Reach with Natal in the first place. not only will the problems with precision aiming, turning etc, exist, but you have to remember that Halo: Reach was probably under development very soon after Halo 3's release, so to try to incorporate Natal into the control scheme would be too much of a hassle anyways...anyways, I don't think Natal would be a good idea for a FPS, thats even if Halo:Reach is an FPS. Natal would be good for a rail-shooter type game though which I highly doubt Halo:Reach is going to be.
