Researching around on Halopedia I've been noticing a handful of weapons have attachments most real firearms have. Silencers, Red dot sights, flashlights, etc. And I thought to myself, why not include differant variations of the same firearm. (COD4 does this in their Campain mode, example being M4 carbine and M4 Grenaider) So why not do the same.

For example....

Not too many people know this, but before Halo: Combat Evolved was released, the Assault Rifle had an underslung grenade launcher. So why not ressurect this concept in Halo 3: ODST? But at the same time, keeping a "vanilla" Assault Rifle in the game.

It's just a though, but it should be considered.

Death to rank junkies.

Yeah, like sometimes you would find an AK-47 Grenadier in CoD4. That would be great, like an Assault Rifle that swapped out the ammo counter for a scope.

Yea, that would be nice.

Exactly. It would work out wonderfully in Halo 3: ODST.

yeah, give it the full SOPHMD M4 style treatment like in cod 4

edit: (if you don't know already, what I just talked about was an M4 with a grenade launcher, holographic sight, and a laser pointer you can only see w/ night vision, and don't forget the silencer) I don't know why they call it that, but that's what it is.

I could finally get my silenced sniper rifle... They could actually make a good argument for the return of the homing rocket launcher in game. Just say the homing feature was an attachment that wasnt present for Halo 3. Hell, you could even achieve the complete redundancy of a Spartan Laser with a laser sight.

Your right and what i think they should do is make different weapons instead of the same ones like have a mission where your in trouble and you find a bunker you go inside and there is skeletons and you find m-16's and ak-47's and have to fight your way out.

Wayne Jarvis, Attorney at Law; I have a responsibility to tell you that there is no candy in this office.

I think Halo tries to keep a basic feel. By that I mean, Call of Duty 4 has many types of Assault Rifles, all with their own strengths, and Halo simplifies it in to one gun. I think they want to keep a more basic feel to keep gameplay simple

I agree with you, but in my opinion, it would give the game a bit more variety. Imean were talking about Special Forces here, their going to have attachments on their weapon that suite the situation.
