I understand halo is a very popular game and I know why,But do you think Microsoft will milk halo as long as they make money.I think bungie knows when they should end a title but I think Microsoft does not.Is this what reach is signifying?

Edit:Im not questioning how well bungie can make a game.

im sure this game was bungies choice. plus halo is what made xbox, with out it xbox wouldnt be how it is now. i think its because bill gate slipspace time travelled back in time and made bungie make multiple games so he can dominate the world.

No. Bungie is simply expanding on the Halo horizon and giving us players what we want.

To anyone who thinks this is "milking" Halo... You could say the exact same thing about any game series that has a lot of games. WarCraft, Legend of Zelda, Madden (which probably is being milked, but whatever), Animal Crossing, Destroy All Humans, etc.

So no, Halo is not being milked. They are simply giving us more of what we want.

Ever heard of a FPS called Call of Duty.

They have had 5 games as compared to Halo's 3.

And the first three were about the same war.
That doesn't change the fact that CoD is a good game and so is Halo.
Why would you want them to stop making a gaming franchise that is awesome and has so much potential?

That doesn't make sense...from a mental and a business standpoint.

Have you ever heard steven spielbergs quote about E.T when he was asked why he didnt make a second E.t he basically said he wants it to stay known as good movie and not watering it down with more movies.

That's because you can't make a decent sequel/prequel out of ET. The story's pretty much been wrapped up. There would be no potential for another good ET film. This is because ET was a singular story, designed to open and close on its own without leaving a door open for a sequel. The Halo series on the other hand has tons of backstory and potential for more content, because its background is so huge. You could make loads of games based on the war we've seen in the Halo franchise so far. The same goes for things like Star Wars and Terminator. There is a lot you can do with the story and background of those two franchises, which is why masses and masses of comic books, novels, and video games have been made out of them (Less so for the Terminator series). Fair enough, some examples might have been bad, but that all comes down to the skill of the people making them.

Good stuff can come out of old franchises, and besides which, Bungie aren't the type to milk their own work. They put too much effort and care into it in the first place.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

With four games in the making Im almost at the point of thinking so, but not yet. I really hope that they dont continue in the same pace after all four games are released though.

As much as I love Halo, a new IP from Bungie would be much more awesome then yet another Halo game.

Old School

And anyway, i think series like MGS and final fantasy are milked beyond belief, but with Halo, the story has been wrapped up in such mystery, hell only jason jones, lorraine Mclees and a few others only know all the facts to the fiction.
This story can be continued to be told for many more years thats for sure.

1) we are thirsty
2) Movies are NOT games. You cannot take a movie, refine the graphics, alter the story and expect it to be just as good. Games are taking what works and making more of it. Movies are hit and miss simply because feedback means dick when you can only make it ONE way.

In short, a franchise is NOT milked until it releases multiple games of multiple genres. If we see a halo sports game that is not the greatest thing since sliced bread (an in depth Grifball) then we know it is finally being milked.

Because if a company that has the creativity to make such great games then wouldn't to want to see what else they have floating around in their noggins. Potentially great ideas that can't come forward because it doesn't have anything to do with their current series?

Bungie still has one more project up their sleeves, it may not have anything to do with halo.

also, just because they do not drop EVERYTHING and start working on new ideas, doesn't mean they don't file them away for later.

  • 06.15.2009 9:27 AM PDT

I don't see the need to arbitrarily -blam!- and moan about how the franchise is being milked. If they can make it a quality game of it, what business do you have complaining that it takes place in the Halo universe? If anything, Halo: Reach being a game that contributes to the established Halo fiction and style of gameplay should be taken as a good thing. Why cook up a new fictional universe when you've already got one that people like and which still has many stories to be told about it?

Then they make a game about those ideas. When your company is as big as microsofts it isn't hard to imagine hiring another team to make another game.

and how!

Of course Halo is being milked. It is a multi-billion dollar product.

That does not have anything to do with the quality of games though. I'm very confident that whatever project Bungie puts the effort into will come out as being very playable.
