Subject: A New Antagonist - A New Arbiter

As we all know, there was an Arbiter in Halo Wars, and an Arbiter in Halo 2. Considering how Halo Wars takes place in 2531 and Halo 2 takes place in 2552, that leaves a nice gap for there to be a few new Arbiters. While yes, reach does fall closer that that 2552 time, we all know that by the time halo 2 rolls around, there's a vacant suit of armor for Thel' Vadamee to slap on to become the accursed arbiter.

An important thing to remember is that an Arbiter is pretty much made to do the dirty deeds of the Prophets, and WILL die in the process. There were probably more than 1 in this timespan.

So what i'm saying, considering most of the community loved the idea of the Arbiter in Halo Wars and Halo 2/3, will we see a NEW Arbiter in Halo Reach? Perhaps as an Antagonist, a new boss or goal to get to?

What do you folks think?

I think that would be pretty cool. Not as a playable character again though. I think we've had out fair share of that.

$.50 in store credit.

If he is, he dies. There is no Arbiter at the time of Halo 2, which happens not much after Reach if im correct.

That is, if this goes by the books.

because of people like you, a huge segment of the halo storyline was gotten rid of in H3.

I would love to play as the arbiter again. It would be sooo sweet if you got to fight the UNSC.

  • 06.15.2009 9:48 AM PDT

Old School

I think its more than likely that there will be a new arbiter, and more than likely trying to kill us.

See now that would be cool. Being an Elite is one thing, but to be an Elite when they were still sided with the Covenant would be something else. Seing the story from an enemys point of view gives them oodels of personality.

I totally agree with this theory, I wouldn't have thought of it to be honest!

Would be a very different experience to fight against an Arbiter instead of with.

If this game follows the book and the characters therein, there technically isn't any place for an Arbiter--barring a cinematic sequence showing him working behind the scenes or something similar. The Spartans in Fall of Reach never encountered an Arbiter on Reach. However, if this game includes an expanded roster of Spartans and follows their story, or if the story is playable from a Covenant perspective, a new Arbiter may very well make a prominent appearance.

No. There were no Arbiters between the one from Halo Wars and the one from Halo 2/3.

According to Halopedia, the Nineteenth Arbiter in the line of Immaculate Succession fought in the Battle of Reach, so the inclusion of an Arbiter would definitely fit within the Halo canon.

(Note: The Arbiter in Halo Wars was the Seventeenth, and the Arbiter in Halo 2 and 3 was the Twentieth. The Eighteenth Arbiter fought in the Battle of Jericho VII.)

everybody listen to mac2po he is 100% right

I would really want to see a boss battle similar to the one with Tarturas in Halo 2, except much harder :)

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I would prefer Xytan 'Jar Wattinree... 11'5'' tall Elite wearing the silver-and-gold Forerunner-glyph-decorated armor of an Imperial Admiral.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Actually, according to the Halo Wikia and the Halo Interactive Strategy Game, there was an Arbiter at the Battle for Reach. Please note that the Halo Interactive Strategy Game does follow canon.
