Yes, in the legendary ending its definately Reach, but its simply a symbol to the end of the Halo Trilogy, because it all started with the Planet Reach.
No Time travelling, no bull-s***.

Although, it does look like Forward Unto Dawn is floating towards Reach and even the name Forward Unto Dawn does raise the idea that the ship could be going Forward unto the dawn of the Halo franchise?
So maybe Halo 4 will be Master Chief and Cortana Landing on Reach?

yeah good theory but... like I stated in another forum Reach Was Glassed acept for a small small section and also some People Survived that were underground, so yeah this theory works to but also I dont see how Chief could possibly have floated so far to get to reach even if it was reach it would have taken chief like 1000 years, just to float all the way there litteraly and also since the story pretty much ended with *the Ghost of Onyx* Bungie could go where ever they wanted to with this.

Then why would Bungie make Planet Reach in the Halo:Reach trailer identical to the one in the Legendary ending? Its not a coencidence and its not Onyx.

Old School

Why is it not onyx?

  • 06.15.2009 9:59 AM PDT

It would make sense from a game making standpoint. They release halo reach to show us what happened in reach, then release the game AFTER halo 3, which takes place on a destroyed reach.

possible.

Monkey see, Monkey shoot.

Terry Pratchet - The Best.

A few things. Reach has been glassed, and Onxy doesn't exist any more.
Onxy was blown up.

Reach was glassed. Which means that it wouldn't be recognisable as a planet.

The legendary planet does not look like reach anyway. Unless you only see the circles...

Seriously people, the planet from the ending of Halo 3 is NOT reach. First, Reach was glassed only a few months before the ending of halo 3, nowhere near enough time tor an entire planet to be rebuilt. Second, Master Cheif and cortana were not on or anywhere near Delta Halo when the explosion occured. They were on the Ark, on the edge of the galaxy so it could be out of range of the "halo effect". They could not possibly have drifted all the way to Reach. Also, if you look closely at the planet at the end of Halo 3 you can clearly see what many think is the forrunner's symbol for the halo array and its related stations on the surface of the planet.
Proof : http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/halo-3/shield-world/
Scroll down the page and look at the picture of the planet from the legendary ending. If you actually take the time to READ the article, it makes it pretty clear that the planet from the Halo 3 ending has something to do with the halo array, and is probably a shield world, even if it's not Onyx. If you think the planet from the end of Halo 3 was a rebuilt reach, answer me this, why would humanity have built the forrunner symbol for the halo array into the surface of their planet? There's just no possible way that the planet from the end of Halo 3 is Reach. End of story.

Why is it not onyx?

Because the game is titled "Halo: Reach". It's just an obvious observation, but with Bungie, you never know.
