I'm sure i'm not the only one who have noticed that the brutes in the trailer for Halo 3 ODST got energy shield and not power armor. Did the brutes have energy shields in Halo 2 and between? Or have I forgot a huge part of halo history?

If I have please forgive me. I just want some answers

Death to rank junkies.

They have the same armor they had in Halo 3, but now their shields flare up when shot, like an Elite or spartan.

Riverside23: For all the women of the group, if you've got a real man at least let him have his big piece of chicken.

WhtButterflyLiz: lol. Bring home bigger chikkinz, then, real man!!!

DEATHPIMP72: *throws pterodactyl on table*
Suck it JoeSki!!!

Well, as far as I remember Brutes did not have energy shields in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

People keep telling me to get a life... I am getting an education, I have a lovely girlfriend and alot of friends... I thought this was having a life? Gues I was wrong...

I think its just an effect to notify you that you are actually hitting the brute, but yes, I raised an eyebrow aswell the first time I saw it.

for some reason the effect wasn't in halo 3 (shields flairing)

but they always had shields.

Brute Equipment?

Well, since they're 9 feet tall, I'd assume their equipment is a little bigger than ours...

oh wait, that isn't what this is about, is it?

Yep. But in Halo 3 they have better armor, making them a replacement for fighting Elites. Hopefully there are shields for Brutes in addition to their armor, it'd look a hell of a lot better than the armor popping off every time they get shot. Screw canon :P

The shields were pretty much all that held the armor together in Halo 3.

Actually Brutes have always had energy shields. Their armor has always included it. It's just that in Halo 2 the Brutes you fought were part of Tartarus' pack. Tartarus did not allow them to use shielded armor for some stupid reason about strength or something lol. Also, if you don't believe me read Contact Harvest, it describes the Brutes as having shields in that. Also, the only reason it looks different in Halo 3 than in Halo 3 ODST is because before Bungie didn't include the flaring effect that Elite armor had.

My explanation:
The Brutes on High Charity were civilians who Truth didn't care about. The forces on Earth are important soldiers.
The Brutes ran out of energyshields and Bruteplasmarifles during the invasion weeks.
