Subject: My End to Halo 3: ODST, Read It, Trust Me You'll Like It...

Status: Prepared to GTFO

All of the Squad save for Romeo had reassembled in a dark corner of New Mombasa near the remnants of the space tether. They can't necessarily make out wall details, yet an ominous air loomed, - distorting their vision as it was - hung in the air as with the wretched stench of the half eaten corpses of humans that the brutes had indulged upon.

- "Where are we?.. Who the hell organized this rendezvous?" Mickey asks

- "I dunno, but that smell ain't something that I'm liking," Dutch replied in his husky tone

- "Damn it, Covie bastards were eating them..."

-"Yea..." Dutch said without direct relation to what Mickey had said, "Who would set a rendezvous in this place?" He reiterated as he examined his surroundings, trying to recall anything that might help him understand his current situation better...

- Buck started, "It's like something out of tho- "

Then the walls started to subtly move like as if vines in the wind...

-"What the hell?" Buck continued as he disregarded his previous train of thought and took point.

-"Boo!" Romeo exclaimed as he launched himself at the squad from behind a curtain that had been rigged as to conceal the doorway from which he came...

- Buck inquired as he retaliated from the instinctual step backwards, "Romeo? Where the hell were you and what took you so lo-?"

-"Damn it, that's an easy way to get shot," DARE interjected.

-"Oh, C'mon it was only a jo-" Romeo was interrupted by an extraordinary force pulling backwards off the ground.

-"Romeo!"

The squad immediately investigated as quick as a nerve impulse reaction triggered by a burn or sting would.

-"It was only... only a joke.." came a weak and muffled voice from above...

The entire squad looked straight up to see the helmet less mangled body of Romeo upside down half shoved through a gaping hole in the roof with several bloody intrusions puncturing his body straight through...

Knowing they were outmatched, the entire squad fled the scene, back from the ally of whence they came.

A feminine scream from behind alerted the squad to look back but they all continued to run when they noticed DARE was no longer there. When suddenly, from the left and the right Dutch and Mickey were pulled under into the low fog of the alley.

Almost at the end, Buck and the Rookie accelerated towards to the exit.

- "We're not both going to make it out of this alive" Buck said as he slowed and turned around with his Assault Rifle ready and loaded.

-"What are you doing?!" the Rookie furiously interrogated...

-"Saving your ass," Buck said as he began firing at a foe concealed by the extremely limited visibility of the alley way to the Rookie.

Knowing that Buck was going to die in vein if the Rookie didn't flee, he ran without consent from his mind, only body... With the last second of visibility he had of Buck, he saw the suggestive silhouette that Buck had just expelled his insides from a large diagonal slash across his torso.

Not looking back, the Rookie ran to the ever expanding light of survival at the end of the alley of which had become a cave of death. Somewhere he knew he would die, but he ignored it and pressed on.

Suddenly, a grapple on his foot halted the Rookie to a face tearing plant on the hard concrete, and he instantly grabbed his combat knife and cut off the mangled flesh that had grabbed his ankles. Spewing with syrupy blood the extremity retracted and the Rookie exploited the several seconds that he had left by escaping the ally.

The Rookie saw a slight beacon of red in the space from which he emerged. Slow was its strobe in the dark. Then, a Deafening noise from above existed - like a bolt of lightning decapitating the Rookie and cracking what was left like a water balloon. It was a Shortsword carrying a payload of Concussive Fire Adhesive Bombs expelling them from its belly.

The mangled flesh emerged from the alley as to hunt down its last of its prey exposed to the Rookie as a giant orange tangled mess. It was like a hunter, and it even had some of their armor, but it was far too large. The only thing that the Rookie could comprehend it as in the time that he saw it, was perhaps a colony of hunter hosts.

Then the CFABs hit, like a blast of magmatic intensity throwing the Rookie backward into the street behind without mercy - as a child would a broken toy. After rolling on the unforgiving pavement, buffeting his armor, of which the relentless grinding unleashed a vibrant display of sparks and noise of which only masked the reality of his bones snapping like brittle rocks that had outlived their purpose. The Rookie lay... Awake but senseless... For what seemed an eternal moment, his sight slowly faded and the last that he saw that night amongst the burning remains of the hellish beast that had taken his squad, was an unforgiving glare of a searchlight. What it was did not matter to the Rookie, for he neither cared nor willed for life...

(I'll likely make a sequel if it gets enough replies to justify, and if that goes over well, I may attempt some illustrations)

Haha noo I just kinda get really involved with characters in games. Like when Johnson died I was depressed for awhile even though his death did not do him justice at all. Also like in the books when people die I'm like wowww that sucks and am depressed for awhile even though I love all the books. The worst was when Captain Keyes died :(

  • 06.15.2009 5:29 PM PDT

That was alright, except for the squad dying, and wtf was killing them?

Oh, well I was just answering your question about the "where have you been?"

And it's understandable to be involved with characters, that's what authors aim for generally, to make their audiences be consumed by their stories

(or at least I do)

Yea. Captain Keyes dying made me pretty sad, but then Johnson died and I was pretty pissed. I was also sad when Captain Price, Gaz, and SSgt. Griggs died in Call of Duty 4.

All right, but lets not get all sobby...

And BTW, I'll explain in the sequel what was killing them, If I have the time to do so...

My thoughts exactly. It didn't flow as smoothly as it could have, but the idea was great.

For those of you whom think this way, lemme explain...

It's written in a presumptive format, or inferred format. You're supposed to try and figure out the unspecified parts.
