I had a problem playing the first halo series. I enjoyed the gameplay, but since I'm hard of hearing I couldn't get into the story(thus I couldn't experience halo in its true art form) as it was not captioned/subtitles like most games today. The CGI scenes were on the boring side (only because I couldn't understand what they were saying).

My question is, will halo 2 support a subtitle feature? If not, is there a way to let bungie know that this feature would be appreciated with not only myself but many others. I've heard that captions/subtitles are not only used by deaf/hard of hearing, but gamers who wait til their families go to sleep to play the game(with the mute button or sounds really low) and among others. I'll still purchase halo 2 so I can play online, but if it does not have captions/subtitles, then I will have to disagree with every xbox owner that halo 1& 2 is/are not the best console game ever.

I posted a question exactly like this a few months ago (I am newly deaf), and the mods told me that Bungie knows that fans want it so they are going to try and put them in. I really hope they do.

It should definately be an option, so you can understand what is being said better. I personally understand text better than I do sound waves, so that would make the hard-to-hear lines stand out more. I never understood a few lines in Halo(1) until I read a copy of all the dialogue. (And I have very sensitive hearing.)

If you still don't know what has been said, check out the level transcripts over at HBO. Otherwise, yes, I agree that subtitles should be an option. Personally, I wouldn't use them because I think they distract from the realism of the excellent cinematography present in the Halo cutscenes. Also, if anyone has a problem with my volume level they can take it up with my fist.

I sent Frankie a messege asking him if he could tell us about this in one of his updates, but no reply (or mention of it) yet. I think I'm gonna ask one of the mods to ask Frankie (or anyone else who would know) about it, since they have "connections" and what not.

wow, thanks for replying so fast. I'll cross my fingers that MS & bungie keeps people like us in mind. I think there should be a similar law that encourages or mandates that game developers put some form of subtitles with all games like they do with (public)television. Thanks again, hopefully see you all on live in November.

It should definately be an option. I probably would use it. It just sinks in better with captions. But maybe I wont use it on the first try. I would want my eyes focused on the cinematography(sp?), and not the text.
