THE Skyhighatrist

http://h3customs.com/home.php

To me, it seems, Bungie is doing what any other developer would have done. They're constantly looking for new ideas and features to add to ODST without sacrificing Halo 3's gameplay.

I agree that the ODST's sudden boost of strength is a little overdone, but I feel like there would be just as many complaints if they completely took out the ability to rip off a turret and start mowing lanes...

If anything, at least take away their ability to jump with the turret in hand...

As for boarding Wraiths, again, not being able to carjack/skyjack an enemy simply wouldn't be as much fun.

Just read the above post, kinda repeating it...my bad

I personally think that Bungie wanted to give the players a Halo game but with a twist. I don't think that they want to re-invent gameplay, just alter it to give it a spin.

But I agree, ODSTs shouldn't be able to do what Spartans, Elites, and Brutes do.

Honor. Respect. Loyalty.

Those are valid points, I think that were just going to have to live with the inconsistencies.

Wait... you're trying to contemplate the laws of physics with elements in a video game? You are also doing it with not just any video game, but Halo 3? The laws of physics are somewhat non-existant in the Halo series, especially with the Gravity Hammer and gravity modifications for multiplayer.

  • 06.16.2009 3:58 PM PDT

i know that you dont want to here this but... mabe this is a video game and the laws of phsics dont have to aplly.

heres a list of reasons why this might be hapening. (odst being ewual in streangth to spartans)

1) Its a video game
2) mabe the gravitational pull is lower bec the planet might be smaller
3)mabe they just shot open the cockpit of a wraith, or stick a nade to it
4)this isent real life
5)what if the whole enviornment that the odsts are playing in is smaller and his strength appears to be the same of a spartans by just illusion?

  • 06.16.2009 4:00 PM PDT

My opinion is maybe Bungie doesnt want the game to be hella hard I mean really do you want a noob to play this and have its ass kicked oh well

  • 06.16.2009 4:01 PM PDT

I put the laughter in manslaughter

because they probably have had some MINOR augmentation as well, their suits could perhaps be somewhat like the chiefs suit and make them stronger.

  • 06.16.2009 4:03 PM PDT

I want my steaks Luke...

ODSTs have probably always been that strong... we keep forgetting along the lines of the halo campaign is that it isn't master chiefs suit/ equipment that makes him strong, its the bio augmentations... While ODSTs aren't strong enough to lift two tons like a spartan, we don't truly know the extent of their strength along the lines of who they are and how their physical strength has been mutated.

My theory for the turret is that if a spartan were to carry it at normal pace, the turret's accuracy would be thrown off while firing, and as we all know, the ODSTs already have better targeting/ visor equipment as it is, and they are pretty much in between the power extents of normal marines to Spartans. You don't see normal marines plummeting from orbit just to burn up in the atmosphere and crash land into hell knows what... all while riding in some tin can. When you think about it, how strong do you think they are?

Plus its probably just better for game play to have it this way. And sense when has anything about Halo ever made any since?

crunchy_shadow, if you like to play games with realism, play ghost recon advanced warfighter 2. and play it on high risk aka hard difficulty.

and i disagree with some people here, you need physics in video games.

I've given up trying to reason with the idiot infestation here in the ODST forums. I think I've seen one intelligent post (maybe a few more) against why the turret matter shouldn't change. And you know what? I could care less. It's not going to impact the gameplay, I'll still enjoy the hell out of it. But what really gets me, is when someone points out a major flaw in halo lore, people jump on him and attack him. He's right, and you guys know it. ODST's shouldn't be able to lift turrets/break open wraith hatches. I haven't seen one reason at all as to why they should be able to.

I don't know who said it, but the person who said something about games/videos getting worse as soon as they get rid of some of the basic principles was absolutely correct. It made me smile to see such an intelligent post. And then, someone tried to prove him wrong by being an idiot. That made me un-smile(?). Something about magic potions (made me smile). Then someone tried to be incredibly sarcastic and they failed. Epicly.

Like I've said before and before you all jump on me, I'm still going to buy this game!. In fact, it's probably all I'm going to be playing. I just can't stand when a good point is presented and then people just ride in on the Bungie Bandwagon and start hating on them.

*Note* - Only one person has replied to my posts (I think). He has been intelligent. All of the other bungie fanboys have skipped over my posts because, and I'm only speculating here, they don't have long enough attention spans.

Who is this crazy darkpig guy anyway?

A light turret, an outdated wraith and an auto swinging hammer. It's a game not physics.

the ODST's dont have an energy shield and a crapload of armor like spartans do, nor do they have the augmentation, the special healing suits nor do they have the training compared to a spartan.

I've been playing Halo since 2002. My earliest memories include hiding at the shotgun window on Damnation and killing my dad with grenades while playing co-op on Pillar of Autumn.

Explain this, how can Master Chief sit in a Warthog and not fall through the god damed thing.

The answer: IT'S A VIDEO GAME

PXLeigh your comment on this made me laugh so hard, i was actually understanding this guy when he was talking about physics but then you talked about the weapons on the game, cant wait till it comes out

It's an issue relating to the basic laws of physics.

No, no it's not. This has nothing to do with basic laws of physics.

Just play floodgate and rush thru it to the part where you can get the flamethrower, if marines can hold that I wonder what odsts could carry plus in halo 3 it would be dumb to let the humans other then chief the abiltiy to carry turrets I mean god if that was the case I would be playn legendary a only fight like one brute every 20 minutes

Also, I remember seeing an ODST boarding a wraith in a gameplay video. I remember reading somewhere that only Spartans and Elites are strong enough to bust open a Wraiths cockpit door. So how is it that ODST's are able to do that as well?

Let me tell you a short story.

An ODST jumps up onto the Wraith. He then yanks open the hatch and chucks a grenade. Then, the guy inside hears a *tink*, looks around, sees the grenade and says,
"Aaaaaawwwwww Shi--" BOOOOOOOOM! The grenade explodes.

Sorry if that was long or pointless but it explains how it's possible.
