Well thanks to BrandiniMP he has discovered a new haloloop.
He does NOT provide a download to the haloloop but he does provide a patch that will help any dedicated server owner be protected. And on top of that he provides an awesome video that lets you understand and see what exactly you are being protected against.

I am not BrandiniMP!

Any questions contact him at his website.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

I have contacted Roger Wolfson at Bungie and they have no intention of creating a new patch for this.

Way to go Bungie. Nobody expected you to care around here. Honestly, you guys suck. Congrats on making games for 12 year olds.

Well last time Bungie released an unofficial patch (1.08) Roger got an angry phone called from Gamespy, so i dont blame them, but it doesnt stop me from patching it.

All I ask is that you don't try to capture me.

HPC is unsupported by Bungie, and it wasn't made by them to begin with, so this kind of thing is to be expected. It's up to the community to keep supporting the game.

Anyways, thanks for the patch! I'll be sure to let people know.

thank you, and thank you for not -blam!-ing about some of the "features" or therefor lack of shall i say.

please understand everyone, if i gotta make a patch, ill patch what needs to be patched plus whatever i want to patch, either accept it or dont use the patch.

Haloloop was a proof of concept by Aluigi Auriemma which could make a halo server go into an infinite loop, which used up the host machines system resources, the first 2 versions were fixed in 1.07, but then haloloop3 was created, hence the creation of halo 1.08, however the use of any of these in a DoS style could cause a buffer overrun (fill up where the packets are stored) and crash server, not the same way as the usual haloloop, but crash the server none the less.

so haloded, a DOS run server, will crash due to the haloloop concept. I use haloded v1.08 so I'm curious about this.

Why would they be angry?

Besides, to heck with Gamespy. ;)

i dont know why they would be angry, perhaps the lack of notice.

@ Agemenmon matt:

Not DOS, DoS

DoS = Denial of Service, basically just hitting the server with the haloloop packets over and over, with multiple threads.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Thanks for the heads-up and the patches. Are you able to make a patch for the client, for peer-hosted games, too?
