Seeing as though Halo: Reach is almost definately a prequel to Halo: CE (The characters on the banner are all Spartans who were not alive after CE. Which makes it a prequel. And no, the one on the left is not an Elite. Read the other topics in this forum and actually learn something about Halo: Reach) does this mean no Flood....

Why?

The Flood was only introduced half way through CE, once on Halo (Installation 04) But will it be on Reach?

I hope not...

So does this mean that there will be no equivalent to Cortana in Reach? Well, there is always the possibility of a new, just as annoying enemy being introduced. Or just a really crap level which is almost impossible on solo legendary. Or maybe every level will be challenging and fun, not once being a pain to complete? Well, thats almost impossible, as people over exaggerate the bad points and make a mediocre level as horrible as Cortana.

But what could be Worse than the Flood?

The main enemy in Halo 3 may have been the Covenant but the last level involved the Flood. And was the cause of the worst level in the history of Video Gaming. So what could be worse? There is absolutely no way of telling. We can only wait and see. But until then, lets hear your ideas for new enemies and what can take up the gap for the most annoying enemy in the Haloverse.

Actually Cortana has a "Sister". Also there are other spartans alive after Halo: CE. One I believe is Linda, or the one put in the cryo tube. Between Halo 1&2 MC goes back to Reach and rescues the rest of the Spartans and Dr. Hasley who survived.

By Cortana equivalent I did not mean another Cortana, I meant a level equally as bad as the pen-ultimate level to Halo 3's campaign. Also Cortana does not have a "sister", moreover a mother, the women (Dr Something or other if I remember correctly, who initiated the Spartan Project) who used memories of her brain to create the AI that became Cortana and her "sisters".

To adress your second point some Spartans may still be alive, but I happen to know the Spartan on the left, Sam, who was John's best friend, died activating a nuke on a Covenant ship, as his helmet was pierced and suffocated or something

actually I was referring to the AI Deja. She to came from Dr. Hasley. But I could be wrong and be thinking of a different AI. All I know is that there where two AIs that were created from Dr. Hasley.

Yeah, but Reach is Covenant occupied and they don't know about yet, seeing as though Master Chief didn't, and in Halo Wars they only see then for the first time. Yeah, I know I may be being slightly optimistic but isn't there a slight chance they may not come back...

There were many AI's created from Dr Halsey (thank you for the name) but only a couple survived.

frankly I wouldn't count Halo Wars because it might not follow the same story line. But who knows. I don't really like the flood, so I didn't really get past the flood missions in Halo Wars.

I agree. The plot for Halo Wars was not one to follow the rest of the Haloverse, so I don't think that it will follow that story in Reach or any other prequels.

CE is the first recorded human intreaction with the flood
halo wars has flood but the characters in that make no contact with earth/unsc again after it

so yeah the flood shouldn't be in reach if it wants to follow the time line and the story of reach

Okay so here is wat I think. In the books you have all the spartans fighting in this battle, except for gray team. The Master chief makes it outta there with Cortana. Wat we also knw is that Dr. Hasley is there (i dnt knw how to spell here name) with the other AI Deja. A lot of the spartans die. They kill a lot of covenant and try to protect the power plants that supply the orbital MAC guns. I think they even destroy a covenant ship with a nuke using banshees (this might be a different battle but i doubt it). Then they remaining spartans from blue team meet up with Dr. Hasley and go thru a lot of stuff which eventually takes them to the planet onyx. This long "adventure" that blue team goes thru could make multiple games.

My guess...First battle scene is of when blue team's pelican gets hit and the spartans have to jump out with no parachute. They fight the covenant and if it goes to onyx than sentinels as well. I really doubt that there will be flood in this game because it doesnt fit the story. This is a major defeat for the unsc. I think it will be more focused on the complete destruction of billions of lives. However, bungie might also follow a charater that has never been followed b4 like a random spartan or an odst. No odst survives this battle so that would eliminate that chance for halo reach 2..3..4...5 Soooo i dunno thoughts?

This would be sweet! ^^^

But the ending of the game will trap them in the shield worlds rift with no hopes of escape because of the thousands of sentinels surroundings the rift. The elites might be able to save them because of their advanced technology, as proven in Halo 3 when they are outnumbered by a huge fleet of brute ships and win the battle with the help of Admiral Keyes (I think she's an admiral)

I will be so happy when Reach is release and all you kids notice that it has nothing to do with any of the books. When will people finally understand that bungies videogames and the books are two different storys.

OT: Finally a game without flood, but I had that hope for Halo Wars and I was disappointed, but atleast it profed that halo wars is not canon, due to the fact that the flood are discovered in halo:ce and not many years before it.

Wat r u talking about the books dnt match the games? are u kiddin me? The only thing that doesnt match the halo story is halo wars. The Flood is Halo ce which proves ur wrong.

  • 06.16.2009 2:32 PM PDT

What are you talking about? The books follow the Halo universe perfectly. Read First Strike and you will understand. It bridges the gap between 1 and 2.

  • 06.16.2009 2:38 PM PDT

Halo Wars is canon. So that is technically the fist time the flood was encountered. However all of those Flood were destroyed when the planet plunged into the supernova. It'd be cool if somehow the Spirit of Fire is found somehow though and in Halo: Reach, even if it's just a cameo appearance.

They are the same "storys." Joe Staten, who wrote Halo 1 and Halo 2, wrote one of the novels. Bungie tells the authors what they can write so they the books run parallel to the games... same story, different installments.

OT: Finally a game without flood, but I had that hope for Halo Wars and I was disappointed, but atleast it profed that halo wars is not canon, due to the fact that the flood are discovered in halo:ce and not many years before it.HW is canon. The Flood were discovered on an uncharted world, by a ship which was lost in space, so they could neer have told the UNSC about the Flood before Halo 1. As long as you find a way to separate a human group which encounters the Flood in a prequal from the UNSC, it fits with the canon. And it could also eventually lead to whataver will happen after the Halo 3 Legendary ending...
