If done right, I would love to see the Flood on Reach. I think it would be boring only fighting the Covenant...
Well, seeing as this is before Halo:CE, we may fight both Elites and Brutes(Yes,Brutes come into the Halo story at Harvest, they attacked it. Read 'Contact:Harvest'), but not at once. The two races have a bitter rivalry with one another, but could both have antagonist roles in Reach.

Except only one of them was actually on Reach.

The brutes skrewed up hard enough at Harvest that the prophets stopped putting their trust in them until Halo 2.

The Brutes take Harvest from the Humans, thus why the SoF comes to Harvest five years later. And if you've read the Cole protocol, it tells that Truth favors brutes more than Elites, and that him and Regret don't exactly see eye-to-eye on alot of things, including elites and brutes hierarchy in the Covenant.

I hope so. if not, the Library cannot have a level like it either.

I also hope they have more objective based missions rather than the objective being to get to point X. Two Betrayals is the best halo level ever imo, and they should definately have levels designs more goal oriented.

Granted, I do understand why they had to have go to point X in Halo 3 (it was just a run for the ark) but Halo 2 really could have used it.. That being said, in halo 3 the best levels imo were the ark, covenant, and halo. All are levels with specific goals and much more setup like Halo 1's.

Halo Reach is in the perfect situation to essentially do whatever the heck they want with it. It's really not bound to anything. And they can even bring back elites!

frankly I wouldn't count Halo Wars because it might not follow the same story line. But who knows. I don't really like the flood, so I didn't really get past the flood missions in Halo Wars.

I agree. The plot for Halo Wars was not one to follow the rest of the Haloverse, so I don't think that it will follow that story in Reach or any other prequels.

Ahem. If it's a Halo game, it was approved by Bungie. If it was approved by Bungie, it's canon. Since Bungie hasn't complained about how the Halo Wars story turned out, again, it is canon.

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy." They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didnt understand life.

Halo wars takes place before Halo CE and there was Flood in that?

Halo wars -blam!- up the halo lore man it wasnt made by bungie because for some reason the flood was in it and the way they introduced the brutes....that was stupid

You can run but you'll just die tired.

Only thing I would like taken out is the cortanna/gravemind talking scenes, the ones that slowed you down.

id like the whole level to be taken out, but some people enjoy it so it would, at least be an improvement with the cortana/gravemind scenes removed

Flood were legit in HW. The only humans who encountered it are lost in space in the Spirit of Fire, so they couldnt tell the UNSC before H1.

even though halo wars was canon i dont think that the story was as compelling and as epic as the story of other halo games. it just didnt accurately portray what i thought halo was all about

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

To be completely honest, I hope Reach doesn't have a single flood form in it at all. I am not a fan of fighting the Flood. Never was. I like mucking up some Covies.

Halo Wars is completely whacked out of the Halo timeline for people talking about the flood in that game.

And why do you people hate fighting the flood?
*Easy headshot.
*One mellee kill unless its a tank form, an elite, or you're doing Mythic.
*And they sometimes don't even have guns.
*They come back to life, that's awesome, and if you don't like them coming back, just smack the dead bodies...
*Flood=Fun

And why are you saying Cortana is near impossible to do on Solo Legendary? It's easy.

It fits in (but the gameplay isn't completely canon).

w00ty, 117th post again, but it is highly unlikely that flood are introduced, as they aren't known until after halo CE, and I don't consider halo wars canon in this aspect. as for a cortana equivalent, well, i hope there is one

The only humans who encountered them were in the Spirit of Fire, and they're lost in space so there's no way the rest of the UNSC would have found out until they were found (if they ever were). Flood can be in Reach in the same respect...

Two movies you should watch: Fight Club and Pineapple Express

"Wait. What do you mean, it's dead?"
"If marijuana is not legal within the next five years I have no faith left in humanity, period. Everyone likes smoking weed. They have for thousands of years. They're not going to stop anytime soon. You know? It makes everything better. Makes food taste better, makes music better. It makes sex feel better for God's sake. It makes -blam!- movies better you know?"

I could see that. Like a team of spartans go to an abandon military facility or a mission underground and come into contact with the flood. Maybe they'd have to blow up the place but everyone that knows about the flood would have to be dead, trapped, or in a comma for the story to remain cannon.

Or isolated in a Covenant ship, waiting to get behind enemy lines, so they can try to carry out their original mission.

;)

Huh, I thought someone was gonna mention that my idea sounds close to GoW. I didn't realize myself till I posted but I still think that'd be a good idea as well as yours MLG C.

Your still forgetting something
Reach had a highly advanced forerunner artifact hidden inside it. There's no way in hell the forerunners would ever have allow any flood spore to even get near the planet.....
So no I doubt there is flood, and besides having brain dead turkey shoot for half a game is just bungie being lazy. If it would be the 2nd time the flood is used no problemo, but no it would make for the 6th halo game with the flood in it (if ODST has flood). It isn't halo the flood rising *sigh*

There were Flood facilities on a Shield World, one of the safe-havens for the Reclaimers. It's entirely possible that there was one of them in Reach as well.

  • 06.23.2009 9:58 AM PDT

I rather think they couldn't hold that shield world and it was overrun.
But that's a just a guess

However I find it highly unlikely for the forerunners to not have any ai's in their system for fear of flood taking them over yet they do allow them to be near a crystal which could manipulate time and space (possibly even (crazy ass theory beware) break open a dyson sphere)
