NOT everyone owns Halo 3 ,therefore you need to pay for the product with what is inside. Your reasoning is like this , lets say I have a set of silverwear and I just want to buy a fork. I can't do that, I need to buy the whole set. You may not split a set and sell sepererately

Who doesn't own Halo 3 now. Also there are many other places where you can silverware, so couldn't you go somewhere else to buy just forks. but unfortunately you can't do that with Halo 3 ODST

I think the price is fair.

New Campaign 25$
Firefight 25$
New MMP 10$
Recon Armor, Priceless.

See what I did there?

Thats 60$ total, plus people said they'd pay for Recon armor, which is now unlockable.

I am fine with the price, and would gladly pay more than 60$ for ODST. You RAWK Bungie, thanks for the new game!

Lots of people don't own Halo 3 here are some of them [non shooter fans, new 360 owners, multi conel owners, people who may have not had access to it, ect.....]

Halo 3 sold lots of copies but not every gamer has it . And yes ODST cannot be split because if you take in all the free stuff your getting then you would realize how much you could be spending for everything seperately. You ARE getting a deal .

I wish they had never called it an expansion. If they had called it a whole new game, then there wouldnt be all this complaing. Face it guys, it is a whole new game plus a bonus of Halo 3 multiplayer

SpartanL127-You know, you can still play maps offline, right? Surely you should know that? ODST gives players who CANNOT get the maps from Xbox LIVE an opportunity to buy them.

TOX1CITY-The Heroic Map Pack was charged $10 when it was first released. It's free now, but I figured that Microsft would still want their money's worth for it.

dougEfr3sh-You may have paid for them, but that still doesn't change the fact that there are people who do not. If they don't have those maps, then they should be paying for them if they want them. It's unfortunate for the people that already have the maps have to "repay" for them. Think of this as the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack-that gave players maps exclusive to the Marketplace for a cost of $15. Except that for Halo 3, they give you much more content. That, and the maps cost more.

And guys-it's my opinion that the Reach beta costs an extra $10. It doesn't mean it is, or that was part of Micrososft's decision to make the game worth $60. Many people have their own opinions about how ODST should be priced (hence why these kind of threads are on the forum), so my opinion is and WILL differ from someone else's (Also why I said in the price run-down why people could consider Firefight and the ODST campaign could cost $10 EACH.)

Again, people have to keep in mind that there are people who do not have the maps. They're being charged for the content. Sorry for those people who already bought the content on the Marketplace. ODST is an opportunity for people to get the most of the Halo 3 experience.

Please....Its half a campaign with 1 multiplayer mode thats all, and of course they added halo 3 plus more maps to up the price.

LMAO, Halo ODST is not as much bang for the buck as Halo 3, however, it's still worth $60, if you don't think so then buy a different game. The only problem I have is that bungie said it wouldn't be full price but it basically is. I'm going to buy it because cod waw sucks and there aren't any good games that have come out lately. An other reason its so expensive is because they calculated price versus sales and new that the majority of people will buy it even at 60. If you want the next halo after reach to be cheaper all you have to do is convince 10 million people not to buy odst or reach, you're well on your way with 45 signatures, good luck and know to bend over when bungie and microsoft get together to release blockbusters,

ODST is the right price for people who do NOT own Halo 3. If you already own Halo 3, its is completely unfair.

Halo 3: ODST comes with Halo 3's Multiplayer. They added $ for that.
Halo 3: ODST comes with all of Halo 3's DLC Maps. They added $ for that.

Those two contents alone are worth $30-$40 bucks.

The only two contents we are actually getting is ODST's campaign, and firefight. which should cost $25-$30. The cost of a regular expansion.

i would say that 99% of the members here on bungie.net already owns Halo 3.

Correct?

So you see the Halo 3: ODST package (Note that i said package, not expansion) does in fact cost $60.

But i already have Halo 3's Multiplayer/Maps.

This is why i think that ODST should be DLC.

I know Microsoft will never lower the price for anyting. all im asking is for you to understand its not fair for loyal fans who already paid for this content pay again. Something they should at least consider is creating 3 different packages, a basic version-Halo 3 ODST and the 3 new maps, standard version the $60 dollar one, and the limited edition one.

no its not fair, but they know you'll pay the 60 for it, I have all the map packs and I'll be buying odst as well, it's not like they are going to lower the price. I guess bungie has it like that for releasing such kick azz games. I can honestly say I've enjoyed more Halo 2 and Halo 3 gameplay then I have any other ten games combined. And if they want to charge me 15 extra dollars for content that I already have, they can have it. I payed 60 for cod waw Left 4 dead and many other titles that I played for 2 weeks then let collect dust. If I broke it down to price vs hours played the halo series were the cheapest games ever created. I should probably paypal bungie a few hundred dollars, its almost like I took advantage of them, or maybe they just took better care of me as a gamer.

lol yeah i get you halo 3 is also my most played game and totally worth $60 get this i havent even completed mass effect campaign because of halo or fallout 3.

But if we could at least convince Microsoft to create a basic version that would be great.

You need to understand that the primary market for Halo 3:ODST is people who either do not have Halo 3, or have Halo 3, but do not have the ability to get DLC maps from the Marketplace. ODST has enough content for people in that market group. For people that already have the DLC map packs, it may not seem like it has enough content to warrant $60, but it does for other people. That's the direction Microsoft decided to take when they priced ODST.

  • 06.16.2009 6:04 PM PDT

Yeah, it would be nice to get it cheaper (basically to not feel like I'm paying for content I've already paid for) it's just hard for me to complain after the great titles bungie has released.

No they didn't, halo 3 is almost 3 years old, its basically free for microsoft now, since they didnt want to sell halo 3 odst because it would be so cheap they might as well add halo 3 and all the multiplayer maps which cost nothing to them (excluding legendary and Mythic maps) and up the price

Yes, IT is. Halo 3: ODST took the same direction as the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack disc, except it has a brand new campaign, an extra game mode, three NEW maps, and gives players access to the Halo: Reach beta.

I hate repeating myself: ODST's content is optimized for those who do not have Halo 3 or do not have access to Xbox LIVE, or do not have any Halo 3 DLC.

ODST has enough content to warrant $60 for that market group. However, the value isn't the same for people who already have Halo 3 DLC. It;s unfortunate that you have to pay again for that content, but this is Microsoft's sure-fire way of getting their money's worth. They make it cost less, and they lose out on money and do not get their money's worth.

Dude the money that you are paying for just the game is the regular amount of money for a new 360 game. I do think that the special edition is a little bit over priced but don't get mad at bungie or microsoft.

How is it a full game?

Its title is HALO 3: ODST
HALO 3.

Its an EXPANSION.

The most popular part of halo is the multiplayer, yet I am getting the EXACT SAME multiplayer experience as with the regular, so in turn I am playing $60 for a campaign and a horde game mode. Only having a campaign isn't worth $60 to me, unless thats the games focus and its an epic one, like bioshock or fallout.
