Subject: You Already Bought Recon, Why Buy Another Game For It?

Bungie has said that new armor permutations could not be added, so one can presume that the armor is on the Halo 3 disc. As the owner of it, you are entitled to the benefits of that piece of property. It's like buying a car, but the dealership won't give you the CD player because you didn't earn it.

I am not against really hard accomplishments being necessary to acquire Recon, but it should not be spread over two games. Just make players do something really difficult in Halo 3's campaign like beating Mythic difficulty, and it will still have its uniqueness.

What I am trying to say is; everyone who has bought Halo 3 has paid for the content on the disc, including Recon. Therefore, a person should not have to spend $120 to get it.

P.S. I like that Bungie uses it to reward it gifted community members, but it should be done with something the masses don't technically own. Because the amount of people who get are small, give them early map previews or more points per month for that video render.

Sorry bout the long post. Also, I am not going to start about the Halo 3 multiplayer that most people own because additional content was added.

nice shootdown, mind explaining yourself?

exactly troll.

On topic/

Ya, i guess your right, but i still like the way bungie is doing it, i just wish they'd give more chances for people to get it. (besides ODST..and the contests)

Bungie does do a good thing with Recon by encouraging the community, but it would be preferable if the reward was something you didn't technically own.

  • 06.16.2009 5:37 PM PDT

The game doesnt cost 60$ becouse of recon. Its a small add on which you probably payed .94 censt for.

  • 06.16.2009 5:37 PM PDT

I know money-wise it is not that big of a deal, but it's the principle.

I see where you're coming from, but the logic there is a little flawed. If what you say would be held to everything on the disc, you should be able to have all armor permutations or all skulls, or all levels unlocked from the very start. Getting the armor is just like getting an achievement, just one that is (or was, at least.) impossibly hard.
Also, you shouldn't buy ODST just for the Recon. That's just lame.

You you were to read the EULA and TOU, you would know that you do not own that game, you bought the prilvage to play it, and they can revoke any and/or all of that at any time.

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

You have to earn every perk/unlockable on the game. Just because you don't like what is required to get Recon doesn't mean it's being kept from you and you aren't getting your money's worth. That's just stupid.

We all know you want Recon simply because so few have it.. Just like everyone else in the community. If Bungie gave in and made it available to everyone, (Which they now have, thanks to people like you) how special is it really? Would you still be happy to unlock it and show it off to your friends? Nope. Cause they'd be doing the same thing. Recon gave people something to strive for and have fun attempting to get, but people who complain because they don't want to try only make such kind of things not fun anymore.

And if you're buying ODST just for the Recon, why even bother?

I see were your getting to. You paid for what's on the disk, which includes Recon. Which means, legally, you should be allowed access to this content with only Halo 3.

But that's not necessarily the case. Just because something in on the disk, doesn't mean your allowed to have it. For example: the engineer model that was found in Halo 1's files. It's on the disk, but (on the Xbox version) you technically weren't allowed to access it.

this isn't about 'the principle', this is about you wanting a reward you didn't earn.

i feel i should enquire as to whether you post on the forums of all the companies that make games you own, asking for the achievement points from their games to be added to your gamerscore simply because you bought the game.

have recon is an achievement, you must earn it. owning a copy of the game has nothing to do with it.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

You aren't buying the game for Recon. It's just that this one, as a bonus to your purchase, gives you a more likely chance of receiving it..

No one is buying the game solely for Recon, if you say so, you are lying.

Because I'm not buying this game for Recon. I'm buying it for the new campaign, Firefight, and so I can further experience all that Halo 3 has to offer.

You are right: Why make us have to buy another game just to unlock something that is already programmed on the disc? Leave it to Bungie to get us to pay more money for another Halo game

  • 06.16.2009 6:19 PM PDT

Signatures are for little kids.

If people are indeed buying ODST so they can have recon armor that is sad.

I'm personally buying it for the content on the disk, and I don't care if bungie has something extra on the disk that I can't use.

Nicely written thread, but sort of a petty topic.
