Subject: some calculations about MC's position

Yes, really

ok.
the ark was 2.5 the radius of the galaxy away from the galactic center(according to 343). thats 150000 light years, or 2.939315x10 to the 18th power miles away from the center of the milky way. if was traveling at 100mph, it would take him a good 340 million years to get close to the center. if he was traveling at 1000 mph, 34 million. hell, if he was traveling at the speed of light, he wouldnt get to the center for 150000 years, and cortana would be rampant enough to not wake MC up. now i know that earth is 2/3's of the way out from the GC, but still, thats a long time.

mc isnt going to reach.

(also, if you find an error in my caluculations, tell me. i didnt double check. or even single check really.)

Rawr Im a dino!

well he went through a portal that apparently automatically teleported him there. Or since htis is a videogame maybe theres such a thing faster then light.

  • 06.16.2009 5:55 PM PDT

in the very bigging of halo CE dont they mention the pillar of autmn escaping form reach. MC= inside cryo chamber=inside if pillar of autmn =escaping from reach. Conclusion: MC faught on reach. Correct me if im wrong i havent played Halo CE in a while but i could play it right now to find out.

sorry spelling errors and yes in this videogame series those ships can go way faster than light.

Yes, really

he didnt make it through the portal, you can see destroyed ark in the cutscene. also, the slipspace drive wouldn't work with half a ship, and if he was going FTL, the G forces would rip apart the ship.

/\/\/\/\ i know MC fought on reach. or in space at reach anyway. i mean he wont be going there again, as the 40 year old, mark VI wearing MC

I thinks he's talking about how the planet at the end of Halo 3 Legendary ending can not be Reach. But your right. MC did fight in space above Reach and did escape and thats where Halo CE picks up.

  • 06.16.2009 5:59 PM PDT

no. master chief was sent to destroy the NAV computer database which held the locations of all of their colonies including earth. and after he d3estroyed that he got picked up. he didn't go down to fight on reach ( it was in one of the books, just don't remeber which it was, it was second i think.)

EDIT= well he the NAV database was orbiting reach. not on it. since i havn't played the first hal ( no money to buy it right now even though its 10$ ) so i couldn't exactly say where the game started

I thought so but why would that planet at the end of halo3 legendary ending be reach? the battle would have been over and MC's is nowhere near reach at that point in the series.
Also bungie did a play on words kind of when they said halo3 odst would be the only new halo game. it takes places relatively close to halo3's timeline. But bungie never said they werent gonna make a game that precurses the whole series.

You calculations are all irrelevant because the aft portion of Forward unto Dawn made a Slipspace jump away from the Ark. There's absolutely no telling where it ended up through any sort of mathematical calculation. Even if we knew anything specific about the Dawn's intended jump vector and the conditions at the time the jump was made, Slipspace is a fictional device that is not governed by real-world physics.

Yes, really

no, the stern of the ship didnt make it through. you can see debris from the ark in the cutscene after the credits. the humans slipspace drives arent good enough to make a jump fast enough to get MC anywhere close to earth that fast. and even if he was in slipspace right now, he wouldnt be able to get out.

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I wanna be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

Cheif called AA Roadwatch and they fixed his ship.

He made it through the portal, which is why he didn't die. If he is still floating around the Ark, he would already be dead, because the only thing that saved him is the portal(which he went through).

The portal collapsed when he was inside, so he most probably is somewhere in between Earth and the Ark. Or even in another dimension?

All of the ship entered Slipspace, and all of the ship exited. The ship broke in half, and the halves ended up re-entering real space in different places; the Arbiter made it to Earth, while the Chief ended up elsewhere, but he still made a jump through Slipspace. Had the Chief's section failed to enter Slipspace, he would have been killed by Installation 04 (II)'s activation. His current location is not purely the result of real-space drift away from the Ark, as you are alleging.

MC didnt touch the surface of reach he fought in space on the circumference to stop the covenant from getting NAV data that would lead them to earth.

He is over 40 years old. And you will lose nutrients after staying in cryogenic stasis for too long(in the Halo universe).

the ark is just over 542 thousand light years from the milky ways centre, which puts chief (if he didnt get through the portal) in dark space. if he did and get through and didnt get out the right way then hes in an unknown part of the galaxy, maybe not even our galaxy...wierd

OZZI OZZI OZZI.... OI OI OI!!!!

you might be right, however Cortana has already gone through rampancy.

Also, she sent out a beacon to the colonies to let them know their position. once received, Reach could easily dispatch ships that are able to enter slipspace and tow MC back.
