Subject: Halo:Reach/Halo:First Strike Similarity

During the Halo:Reach Trailer we hear Spartan-259 say a line that is instantly classic. "This is Sierra-259.We have Spartans on the ground. We aren't going anywhere."

I have been reading the Halo books and just stumbled upon this line.

Halo:First Strike,page 156
"Its not automated," Master Chief said. "Everyone gear up and get ready. We're going down there. There are Spartans down there. And they're still alive."

The Spartans he is referring to in relation to the story in the book are Fred,Kelly, and Will.Whether any of them have any relation to Sierra-259 or Sierra-3?? is not up to me.

I make no speculation as to the striking similarity. It could be mere coincidence.....but you have to admit....thats very intriguing.I leave ya'll to that speculating.Play nice.

Whats up with Spartans calling Elites Dinosaurs? I mean Spartans are the ones almost extinct! XD

Master Chief including Cpt. Keyes n others escaped the glassing of Reach but they returned to find any surivivors...

Bungie always pulls lines from other parts of the universe. I don't really see what you're trying to point out though. Obviously if Bungie is going to cover the battle for reach they aren't going to rely on The fall of reach alone. Fall of reach only covered the first fifteen minutes or so of the battle. Most of it takes place in First strike.

Keyes is dead. The only survivors with Chief onboard the Covenant flagship are Lt. Haverson,Sgt. Johnson,ODST Locklear, and Pelican Pilot Polaski.

Wasn't quite making any point, just pointing out a similarity I haven't seen anyone else make yet.Just thought it was very interesting.

When they left I meant, didnt mean that Keyes went back with them.

Wasn't sure how you meant it.I mostly pointed that out for anyone else's sake in case they read this.Must prevent flaming directed towards any of us.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

The line that should stand out from the trailer is these:

Female Voice: This is Sierra 3-2-0, prepped for combat insertion.

[Explosion]

Male Voice: What the hell was that?

Male Voice: We're coming in hot. Hold on!

Male Voice: We just lost our bird!

If we use the Halo: First Strike book as a guide

The female voice is a Spartan when they are boarding Bravo 001 announcing that the Spartans are ready to go.

The "Coming in hot" and "We lost our bird" Could be one of the Spartans (not necessarily Fred) announcing that Bravo 001 got screwed up.

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.
Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.
tenn' Ambar-metta!

First Strike is after the event of the Halo CE, the trailer is very clear, is the timing with the Fall of Reach (before they jump with random vectors eventually leading to the first halo and the first game of the halo series). When Sierra 259 reports it's when Frederick and his team land hard on Reach to maintain the MAC cannons online and keep kicking some covies asses!

YEAH!! time to kick some Elites again! :D

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Charlie Company goes to retrieve the NOVA bomb, and their commanding officer would probably be nicknamed NOVA-1 due to his mission.

They were repurposed to defend the generators after HIGHCOM noticed Covenant massing to take them over. All of them were killed, save 4, and NOVA-1 was dead.

HIGHCOM may have been asking for NOVA-1, but got no response since he was dead. The Spartans arrived at the generators to meet the marines, they went inside, and Fred began talking with Whitcomb about rescuing him.

While Fred was busy talking, Spartan-259 could have answered the man in the trailer: This is Sierra-259. You've got Spartans on the ground, sir. We're not going anywhere." to calm him down since NOVA-1 and his company were slaughtered at the generators.

This would be from the novel FIRST STRIKE; the beginning few chapters pick up where TFoR leaves off (we don't witness Reach's fall in TFoR, it falls about 30 mins after the PoA leaves, when the novel ends). S-259 is probably a member of Team Beta, since he would not have been with Team Alpha (Fred, Kelly, Joshua), Team Gamma (Grace, Anton, Li), or Team Delta (they were virtually crippled from their fall to the surface, and were only healed within CASTLE base by Halsey... and S-259 wasn't in CASTLE base).

Bungie could just be playing with us and messing with our heads just for lulz. They do that often and nothing in the teaser might mean anything at all.

Bunch of sneaky bastards they are -_-

I'm all for Elite-Kicking,but just so you get the time frame, the planet doesn't fall in a day.And the events of Installation-04 only last about a week.

And how could the whole game be the Battle of Reach? That'd be lame.

IMO they will incorporate as much as they can of the planet Reach in the books into the game.

But what do I know?lol.Nothing is concrete for the game as of yet soooo....yep.

Yeah I'm reading the book right now.I hear Noble, not Nova so that theory just doesn't ring right with me.But,hey, you are quite entitled to your opinion.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

I think that there are so many theories sprouting up everywhere that I'm going to stop speculating until I at least get a little bit more information from Bungie...

This is a decent and probably theory, more concrete than most I would say from what I've been reading here... But man theory after theory, so many possibilities, and its driving me nuts! Lol

the part following the master chief is after halo 1, the other part about reach is when mc is in space fighting abord the circumference

The trailer depicts the fall of the planet Reach, which occured in the first few chapters of First Strike (which date to about the same time the PoA left for Halo); Reach didn't fall until 30 mins after this, when the orbital defense generators fell, and the Covenant finally managed to push through en masse.
