Subject: Wait A Minute, How Will Vehichles Work Out...?

You flip say, a Warthog - that is if there are to be Warthogs in ODST, of which I have seen in some of the concept art - how are we supposed to get it back upright, ODST's don't have the strength of a Spartan. And if one were to remain optimistic, and say perhaps one ODST might be able to roll over a Warthog and perhaps they're made of lighter composite materials than today's vehicals, what about a Scorpion, I've seen those in the gameplay trailer, and I don't like the idea of having to flip 90 tons (estimation)...

- Maybe Bungie has modified vehicals to help with flipping the over, say repulsors?

- Perhaps multiple ODST's can flip a vehical like a Warthog by attempting to flip the vehical at approximately the same time...

(apparently, some people see me as complaining about unrealistic physics, I'm not, I merely am attempting to understand if there is any information on this matter that I was missing, and exampling my opinion. I don't need to know how tired you are of "posts like these")

Well when The ODST's go to to flip a heavy vehicle like a tank they will get a big can of Spinach out, eat it, then they will get the strength to flip it.

Do NOT send me Recruitment Letters, doing so will get you blocked faster than you can say "Huh?"

For the sake of gameplay, you just hit RB to flip the vehicle.

  • 06.16.2009 8:25 PM PDT

Yeah, because it makes perfect sense that a spartan can flip and elephant.

  • 06.16.2009 8:26 PM PDT

Well the elephant isn't supposed to flip over in the first place

This world can be ugly, but isn't it beautiful?

I hope that you can drive vehicles, but not flip. That would give an element of realism that would be very welcome.

  • 06.16.2009 8:28 PM PDT

Its not really realistic that a spartan can flip a tank either.

Or maybe you just can't flip vehicles in campaign. Thought about that?

  • 06.16.2009 8:28 PM PDT

They wouldn't do that.

- anyone with half a brain still working could realize that it dosen't and that bungie hadn't designed the game to accomodate for that... Hence the message, "Wait... what, how did you do that?"

Yeah they would. Why wouldn't they? I don't see why it doesn't make sense. If you are going to make the game from the point of view of an ODST then do it. Don't be flip floppy.

The fact that you get that message proves that Bungie did design the game to accommodate it.

  • 06.16.2009 8:31 PM PDT

im pretty sure that you can just flip it back. (other wise that presents an unfixable problem)

Because overall, bungie values entertaining play mechanics over realism.
I mean mate, COME ON! Every time your 'hog gets flipped by a brute shot or something, it wouldn't be any fun. Really TBH, the only UNSC vehicle I couldn't see you flipping is the scorpion, but you wouldn't roll that to begin with.
I agree with the other guy though, its a game, physics don't matter as much, just enjoy.

You have a very childish perspective on accomodation... I was speeking figuratively and you either disregarded that or took no heed to it, and took it literally, in turn leading to your misunderstanding.

- and for the sake of understanding, elephants flip "magically" I was pointing that out...

Then there is an easy way to fix this problem and it is that they probably won't be using a lot of missions that are extremely dependent on vehicles that can flip easily. Tanks are pretty hard to flip by accident so they can have missions with them. Mongooses can be flipped back over so they can use them. Warthogs might be in the game but you won't have long sections where you will be driving the warthog for long distances and if you flip you're ****ed. Warthogs might be optional to use

You could still flip a warthog if it wasn't all the way upside down; just tip it in the right direction.

  • 06.16.2009 8:41 PM PDT

I have seen a group of Marines overturn a Warthog in Campaign.
A small squad of ODSTs could easily replicate that feat in Halo 3 ODST.

The human body is capable of amazing things when under great amounts of stress. A Brute pack beserking after you would be quite stressful I think and might just be enough to give an ODST the strength and desperation necessary to flip said Warthog and turn the Brute charge into a hasty retreat.

Or at least they could use that as an excuse for the sake of game mechanics.

the game isn realistic who cares ... if they let odst flip a vehicle , we can flip one

  • 06.16.2009 8:44 PM PDT

If you ever try and fail.....erase all evidence that it was you who tried

Umm guys let me point out this is a Halo game and usually the games are renowned for being the most fun because it doesnt have a great physics engine thats why the game is fun.
