I had the problem of drifting to the right after loading halo. tried various settings adjustments with microsoft's help to no avail. MS had not seen this before. I found the problem to be caused apparently by my joystick. I have a MS Forcefeed back that was connected at the time I loaded halo. I disconnected the joystick and changed the settings from keyboard/ mouse to joystick and back to keyboard/mouse and solved the problem. Apparently this is a rare condition but wanted to post the solution for anyone else having this problem.

Its the same with a steering wheel. Make sure you don't have it set up in Halo or you will have trouble moving.

if your joystick is somewhat old or worn out, the stick tilts due to a worn out spring or something like that, and it causes the sensors to think you are tilting the stick. I get movement problems with old gamecube controllers. A new joystick should solve the problem.

I used to have this POS controller from Logitech that was $20. The thing did that after one week. Yes, it is usually a worn spring or a piss-poor sensor that gets misaligned. Either way, think about getting a quality gamepad. That usually means $35+ for one that won't suck.

Or you can go keyboard/mouse, save trouble and money, and have better accuracy ;)
