I'm pretty sure more than 75% of Halo players have also played a tactical shooter in their time of playing video games. Don't treat Halo fans like their mindless kids who shoot things that move...as much as its true.
Very true, SOCOM is one of the best tatical shooter's out there in my opinion, it takes a lot of thinking of what you want to do, who you want to kill, where you want to kill him from, and how you want to kill him. I really don't think people are going to realize how different (at least for the people who play on higher difficulties) Halo 3: ODST is going to be.
Usually, people are used to the regular old Halo in which the are built around so you and/or the Marines/Arbiter have to enconter your enemies and defeat them before you can move on, not to mention you're a genetically enginered solider with shield generating armor on so defeating them is quite easy if you are skilled, it just takes time.
Now with ODST, it's literaly the opposite. You are completely by yourself except for an AI, who helps guiding you and still has an unclear part in the story yet is very important to your missions. And in the game, you don't have to fight all your enemies, you can move around them and avoid them all together, but sometimes, you may have to fight them. But it's all up to you to decide. Also you are in a huge city, so you're not confined of where you have to go.
I think people are going to be how surprised how different it is going to be.
