So happy to have a FPS that's not on rails for a change.

As far as ammo goes, no dual wielding means the plasma pistol will actually be an effective weapon again like in Halo CE, so I'll be using the PP/M6D combo most of the time like in the first Halo.

Man, I've missed that so much in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

The plasma pistol used to be the -blam!-. Good damage and accuracy, it fired as fast as you could strobe the trigger, stripped shields from elites and jackals, and there was always a ton of them around. Paired with the human pistol, best combo ever.

Then it became an effete dual wielding accessory in the lackluster sequels. Damn you all to hell. Now I hope it as well as the scoped pistol are back in all their deserved glory.

Sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Ammunition is not a problem when you're planning to beat everything to death.

I wonder how long that'll last, lol. Also, here is my strategy:

Reserve M6C/SOCOM ammo
When M7S ammo is depleted pick up a Type-25 DER/Jiralhanae Varient
If I find a good headshot, use the M6C/SOCOM
If I find another M7S, swap out the Type-25 DER/Jiralhanae Varient for it

Was there actually a point to that?

I dont like the comparason: "river with out a gun" I think you could have done a better job in using some other figure of speech, who goes to a river with a gun anyway. To fish lol.

He siad that people will cry over ODST being open world. That is a strategy for not running out of ammo during the game.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

I'm really looking forward to it, to be honest.

It should add a tactical edge to the already great Halo formula.

I'm pretty sure more than 75% of Halo players have also played a tactical shooter in their time of playing video games. Don't treat Halo fans like their mindless kids who shoot things that move...as much as its true.

Very true, SOCOM is one of the best tatical shooter's out there in my opinion, it takes a lot of thinking of what you want to do, who you want to kill, where you want to kill him from, and how you want to kill him. I really don't think people are going to realize how different (at least for the people who play on higher difficulties) Halo 3: ODST is going to be.

Usually, people are used to the regular old Halo in which the are built around so you and/or the Marines/Arbiter have to enconter your enemies and defeat them before you can move on, not to mention you're a genetically enginered solider with shield generating armor on so defeating them is quite easy if you are skilled, it just takes time.

Now with ODST, it's literaly the opposite. You are completely by yourself except for an AI, who helps guiding you and still has an unclear part in the story yet is very important to your missions. And in the game, you don't have to fight all your enemies, you can move around them and avoid them all together, but sometimes, you may have to fight them. But it's all up to you to decide. Also you are in a huge city, so you're not confined of where you have to go.

I think people are going to be how surprised how different it is going to be.

I dont think that Im going to cry. Open world games are fun. Like GTA IV or Farcry 2.

Or Fallout 3

I dont like how its so hard to find mmo in Fallout 3

After reading most of these posts, I realize that most of these people agree with me. Prehaps the Halo community is better prepared for the transition than I thought it was.

And I thought I was just crazy.

I think juggling weapons will be a useful strategy, never know when you're gonna need that extra weapon.

Boom. Headshot!

You are definitely right. This game is a huge change from the last 3 Halo's and it is definitely going to require change in order for you to play it. But that doesn't mean we are all going to cry. This was a funny post but it wasn't needed. Every true Halo player will have a changing mechanism inside them that will adapt to the new tactics required. I just hope that every body else's goes slower so I can beat it first lol.

I think it will be a nice change of pace from the typical Halo "I ARE TEH INVINCIBLEH SPARRTUN" shtick.
