Subject: Push it Back to 2011

Because Bungie said so.....

I think that Bungie should push Halo: Reach's release date to 2011 for 1 reason : Quality.
If Bungie gave itself another whole year to complete this game, it would be amazing. It would be the perfect Halo game and they would make more money than they would have made had it had been released in 2010. We would get the perfect Halo game and it would be amazing.... not to mention PERFECT!!!!!! It works both ways. So I, FoeHammer777, humbly ask Bungie to push this amazing game back to fall 2011.....plz.

Because Bungie said so.....

Of course, they may have decided to release it in 2010 because they needed money.....

Games have alot to do with a lot of different factors. One of which, and it is an important one, is the development of an engine. Sometimes designers can get away with cutting some corners and still end up with a pretty cool game.

In halo 3, they redesigned the engine for a new console. In halo 2 they simply rebuilt the game.

Here is hoping they don't rebuild the game, because if it does take that long we will all be waiting in line for the new xbox 720 and halo:reach will look obsolete.

Oh and by the way, they have had people working on this game when they finished halo 3. You don't believe me check the updates. Confirmation would be better though.

This is the halo 2 without the heavy redesign, no it doesn't need to be pushed back. I have money they are using something a kin to the halo 3 engine and am sticking by it.

You know that they've been working on the game before they announced it at E3 right? Just because we haven't heard anything about it until now doesn't mean they don't have a lot of the game done. We have no way of knowing how complete this game is. All we have is a trailer for the announcement. They could be holding back a lot of info that they're just not ready to tell the press yet. 2010 is a perfectly achieveable release.

  • 06.17.2009 8:51 AM PDT

i agree to get the best game you need time, however mattram08 is right to so it could be out next year or the next or the next if they find big problems that they have not found yet like wall that the player that they can go though into the free space that has not been used.

First of all, the notion that Bungie would make more money on a game released later is rather silly. Any Halo fan would buy this game tomorrow, or the day after, or a year from now.

Second of all, we should be very comfortable in the fact that Bungie knows what they are doing. Their track record should earn them our trust in that they can make a good game, and that they understand their own time table.

And finally, if my familiarity with the Halo Nation has taught me one thing over the years, it is that nothing that Bungie does will ever be received as "perfect". The fans of their games will always find something about which they simply must complain...
-The pistol is too weak
-The pistol is too strong
-I can't play as a Brute
-The physics are wrong
-This is -blam!-
-I don't spawn with a sniper rifle

The best they can do is to follow their hearts and their instincts and make the best game of which they are capable. I, for one, trust them to do this.

Why stop there, push it to 2012 to make it extra super-duper good.

But if it got pushed it to 2013 it would be even more awesome.

No, I want Reach to be uncomparibly good, push it to 2020, if bungie works on it for 11 years it has to be great!

  • 06.17.2009 10:13 AM PDT

Why, how do you know an extra year in creation would add to the game look at duke nukem its last games was in development for like 15 years and then got canceled, Pushing back a game doesn't mean it will be better, especially sense we have seen nothing of the game so far.

  • 06.17.2009 10:15 AM PDT

I'm all for releasing on the date they have set or fall 2010, later release dates doesn't = better or more money as said. How long do you know they have been working on the game? So just leave it at that.

  • 06.17.2009 10:20 AM PDT

Bungie would not release a game until it was ready. They have been working on this game for a long time and will not release it until they think it is ready to go. Anyways, Im sure the release date will be pushed back like Halo 3 was.

Micro$oft said that they plan on keeping the xbox 360 the MAIN console untill 2015...
Project Natal isnt even out yet; i imagine in wont be out till 2012 at the earliest so that means Natal will be around for last years of the 360.

And at the rate Bungie is spitting out halo games we can probably expect to seeat least another halo game between the realease of Halo Reach and the end of the 360

Ie. between 2007 and 2010 we will have seen halo 3 , halo 3 odst, halo wars, and last but not least halo reach; so yeah we can expect to see a lot more halos in the lifetime of the 360

Boba772

Mabey they had planned to release it in 2009 but had to go back to 2010. Besides, having a longer release date doesnt mean it would be better.

I love Mute!

Have you people heard of a deadline.
microsoft gives Bungie a Deadline to finish their work.
Even if Bungie wanted to push it back, they can't
Remember Halo 3.
How they took levels outs, for lack of time.

Wrong.

Games need release dates to push for. Without a timeline you get Duke Nukem Forever. Play that game and tell me if it's the best game you've ever played. After all, it's had more development time than any other game in history.

Oh wait, you can't play DNF.

The game needs a reasonable timeline for completion. You cannot hold off a game forever in order to include every single feature you put into the design doc and "one more year" doesn't ensure quality. What's required is an adequate period to fix bugs and ensure quality. That means you cut off development at some point and focus on testing. I'm sure that's already built into their schedule.

You can't kill every bug or make every design decision correctly. Some things are going to shake out when the masses actually play the game.
