Bringing you lame jokes, social awkwardness and the occasional good idea since 2008

Number 3 is debatable, since an unknown amount of time had passed. There are clearly what appear to be lights on the planet that somewhat resemble those on Reach, but this just means that it could be any Human colony long after the war.

Does no one else link the legendary ending with a forunner planet?

And medicaite Bias's plans to send you to his maker to repay his errors?

I've been reading some theories around from people who are claiming ridiculous things and infering retarded -blam!-...so if you've read the books and know the halo story you'll agree with me when I say

1. There were no Spartan IIIs on Reach when it fell. During the battle of Reach the Spartan IIIs (Delta Company) were on Onyx.

2. There was never another class of Spartan IIs trained. Before Mendez could even train a new class of Spartan IIs the war with the Covenant began and shortly after he was charged with training Spartan IIIs. Therefore the Spartan heard in the teaser trailer is not in the Second Class of Spartan IIs.

3. The planet seen at the end of Halo 3 is not Reach. At the end of the game cortana says it'll be years before anyone gets the distress signal she sends out, this obviously means they're far from ANYBODY. Reach is part of the close "inner planets" of the UNSC. This means Master Chief is light years away from any human and the planet seen at the end must be half way across the Galaxy.

4. We won't be fighting brutes in Halo Reach. Again...if you've read the books...you'll know that the first time the SPARTANS saw Brutes was on Unyeilding Hierophant which happened after Reach.

5. Time travel is out of the question. Even Bungie seems to think so. This is an interview with Joseph Staten (JS) that I found on a website (HSP)

HSP: 'Time travel' has been decried by some readers as one of the more hackneyed plot devices in story telling. The events of Sep 7, 2552 at Reach provide ample possibility of that device being employed in Halo 2. What comments do you have in regards to time travel, Halo 2, and storytelling in general? [Or, paraphrased] Time travel is a little corny, don't you think?

JS: Absolutely.

Just gotta clear one thing up with you to ensure your post is entirely factual.

In Contact Harvest, one of the first meetings between the Covenant and the UNSC was with a Brute Cheftain.

Well Genius if you'd noticed I clearly wrote SPARTANS...not humans. I'm not saying humans didn't know about brutes. Just saying...who fought on Reach? SPARTANS.
Who will we most likely be playing as? SPARTANS.

Wow and I hadn't seen how many people are posting about time travel.

The fact that theres even an argument about that theory is a testament to the sadly low number of people who actually read the books.

This made me laugh from how ironic your post is. Dr. Halsey actually said time travel was possible through slipstream space in FS.

Well, answer me this. What is this forum about? Reach right? We're talking about the game. I'm merely saying time travel IN THE GAME would be obsurd. Not saying anything else. Just that simply. Oh and ironic? IRONIC? Do you even know what the -blam!- word means? Get a dictionary. There is nothing ironic about my statement and how you're relating what Dr. Halsey said to it.

I'll point out the ironic thing. You tell people to read the books more even though you don't know all of the info in them. There you go.

Well the lights on a night sky on earth resemble that too. Hell maybe master chief made back to earth in a couple hundred years. Nice. Take into account that master chief is stuck half way across the galaxy. There is no way he drifted ALL the way to Reach which is an inner planet relatively close to earth. It would take so much time for that to happen that by the time it did, humans would be extinct and there really wouldn't too much of a story to tell, would there?

There you go again. Did you use a dictionary like I told you? Clearly not. I know far more about the story than you do -blam!-, clearly, I also have a far better use words.

Personally, I think there may be time travel. It wouldn't be the cheezy time-machine kind, just the accidental not intended kind. It would tie up the loose end with MC even if we don't get to play as him. And I won't cry about it if we don't play as MC, it would be a somewhat refreshing change, get to know a new protagonist and a new group of people.

I doubt it. But then again...I'm not bungie to know where they're going to take the story.

Who said he was far away? Do not forget just how close the Humans were to annihilation. We don't know where he is, and humans obviously have the technology to begin re-colonization of unglassed planets. They could have built back out and now the chief has drifted near another colony. And anyway, the ships navigational equipment was up front in the bridge, which was cut off with the Arby as we saw. How does Cortana even know where they are?

1. There were no Spartan IIIs on Reach when it fell. During the battle of Reach the Spartan IIIs (Delta Company) were on Onyx.
Gamma Company. And there may have been some there, just the S-IIs in First Strike didn't see them.
Don't know what you're saying here.

2. There was never another class of Spartan IIs trained. Before Mendez could even train a new class of Spartan IIs the war with the Covenant began and shortly after he was charged with training Spartan IIIs. Therefore the Spartan heard in the teaser trailer is not in the Second Class of Spartan IIs.Frankie called ILB canon, and the Class IIs are from ILB... so they are real. I think that S-259 is a Class I though.
mhh i didn't know this....Thx lol

Reach is part of the close "inner planets" of the UNSC. This means Master Chief is light years away from any human and the planet seen at the end must be half way across the Galaxy.Correct.

Again...if you've read the books...you'll know that the first time the SPARTANS saw Brutes was on Unyeilding Hierophant which happened after Reach. But S-259 may have seen them on Reach, he didn't encounter Fred after the Spartans split up at the generators.
We simply heard him in the trailer. Doesn't mean we'll play as him.

5. Time travel is out of the question. Even Bungie seems to think so. This is an interview with Joseph Staten (JS) that I found on a website (HSP)Correct.
.

By the way...you're that guy that wrote your version of the script for Reach right? It's aswome man I love the piece of art you've made. I congratulate you on that.

Please don't even mention that. Halo wars is a horrible game that shouldn't even be counted for story wise lol. Any who, if you read the book, we never see brutes during the fall of Reach .

Frankie said it was "embraced as canon". Joe Staten, in that very same year said that they were working toward figuring out what was considered canon and what was not, which means these statements either contradict each other, or more likely, they mean the same thing... that not all of ILB is considered canonical at the time (and we have had no further update on its status since then).

I mentioned this awhile ago but you wrote it off as being Staten's original 2004 interview, which was incorrect. Given this information, we still can not say whether a Class-II is part of the halo story or not.

Those brutes weren't with the covies yet(I don't think) and they never made contact with anyone again.

Given the fact that there could be a 2nd class of Spartan lls and the numbers that the Spartans gave in the trailer, 320 and 259, I think there was a second class and they are members of it.

The Spartan III program was done behind the scenes. No one knew about it. And the people involved were in isolation on Onyx.
