Re-read the OP of this thread. It does a pretty good job of explaining why they're ridiculous.
No it doesn't. It just makes it sound like a time travel theorist is completly retarded without giving any reason why it's so stupid. I could do the same with any other theory but would rather not waste my time.
Yes, it does. But since you can't be bothered to discern such on your own, I'll sum it up for you:
The Reach = Legendary Planetoid theories, and the time travel theories especially are based on the assumption that the other is true, and so they go hand in hand. Both are founded off of unprecedented speculative musings that are borderline pareidolia, and have no proper foundations to bring cause for consideration. The image comparisons are not only ridiculous because they do not match in any form aside from shape and horizon lighting (a point expressed in the OP), but also because the images themselves aren't even reliable given what limited lighting we do have. However, from what we do have, they do not match whatsoever.
Couple this with the fact that the game has been officially called a "prequel" and not a "sequel", it should be obvious that time travel is not involved with Reach. If Master Chief and Cortana traveled back in time to Reach, and this game was focused on that, it would not be a prequel, it would be a sequel as it is the next series of events to occur in their non-chronological timelines.
Furthermore, Bungie has expressed long ago that time travel has no place in the Halo universe.
There are other reasons why they are stupid theories, but honestly, that is more than enough.
Crackpot theories deserve no serious consideration, and that's exactly what they are.
Planets do look similar
prequel n. A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative takes place before that of a preexisting work or a sequel.
In the FS Dr. Halsey said time travel was possible through slipstream space.
As you can see I'm getting tired of arguing with people who don't know what they're talking about.
