I hope the AI in ODST is not as stupid as the AI in halo 3. In Halo 3 the marines were stupid. They would stand there and look at a wall for 10 minutes and just stand there when covenent were all around tham. I'ts unbealivable! i just hope that the AI in ODST is much better. Don't you?...

Call me Daddy

I think that they are just fine how they are.

Your wasting you're time you could be doing something else besides reading my signature...

I never had a problem with the AI in fact I thought they were quite smart considering.

Mmmmm, Cheese....

They fixed the AI for open area combat, so no they will not stand there looking at a wall.

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

Hah, well, better than getting blown up by your marines in Halo 2. That happened ALL THE TIME. It was sooo annoying. I know AI in games is never perfect, but you do have to take a step back and see the whole thing. It works fairly well, at least.

Mmmmm, Cheese....

AI in halo 3, normal difficulty. Catch skull on, Floodgate. Elites=Stick, respawn. Stick respawn, give up and play on legendary. Not with catch on.

I really agree with Diaboy about the marines in halo 2 with rockets (both marines with rocket launchers on Metropolis should have their weapons changed). I do think though that the AI could be a bit more like Resistance: Fall of Man for the PS3. Those alien zombie things, or Chimera, (trust me if you play it you know what I mean) usually have a strategy where they have a pincer move where their units throw lots of grenades at you while some more flank you and come up from behind. That would be challenging for the player and would make the game even better.

If I recall correctly Bungie stated in one of their podcasts that the original friendly AI for H3 was too good - it would almost complete the game for you so they had to dumb it down a little.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

It looks to me that in the missions, friendly AI will be scripted to an extent, to make sure they do the right stuff at the right time.

J-H

I thought the AI was quite good...It was really cool fighting along side marines, especially at set pieces like the *SPOILER* fight against two Scarabs *END SPOILER*. I also like how the marines could definitely not take on a Brute, i mean, i like them being there as a helping hand but i also like that they rely on me to save them.

Halo 1 and 2 made me feel like marines existed (in Halo 1, mostly they were scared and getting whupped, in Halo 2, they seemed more competent, and more like tight knit fire teams)

But in Halo 3, I feel like I am the only one in the war doing anything. I think in ODST, they are making the AI as important as you (especially since you play as other characters during flashbacks)

Your blind. The AI marines were quite intelligent. The only part they were dumb is in vehicles... God help us...

  • 06.17.2009 6:56 PM PDT

So they have to be smarter than halo 3 marines but stupite enough for young people (13-up) to enjoy....this is a hard one.

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

Sounds like the problem isn't the AI but is with your ability to play the game...

"Should we run out there?"
"Well the Chief is just standing there staring at us."
"That's. Not a good sign, is it?"

Does anyone even look at these?

I dunno, I mean when I was playing The Storm with a rocket launcher marine on the back of my mongoose, they really kicked some ass.

Sometimes they were a little stupid, but I think they were trying to get cover. If you look at one of the ODST gameplayes, the marines on the bridge stood there doing NOTHING

Judging by that post, you're a 13 year old.
