GT = I Am The Anchor

My schedule has been very busy lately. I'm taking summer courses at a community college with very early classes and am working late nights at a local pizza shop. In any spare time I have, I try to catch some sleep extra sleep, and today I had the day off so that's exactly what I did.

I haven't had a dream about a video game since the first gameplay videos of Halo 2 were emerging, and those dreams were awesome, even more awesome than the actual game when it came out.

Well, I just had my first video game dream since those days, and it was the exact opposite experience, I'm in a cold sweat just typing this. It literally happened 15 minutes ago.

Anyway, you know those dreams you have, where you are helpless and vulnerable, and running away from an unstoppable force? It was one of those. I was an ODST, who was somehow drafted into the UNSC (I know, it would be impossible to be drafted as an ODST, but it was a dream, right?).

So I'm running around this city in fear, and can't find any of my buddies, and around every corner is the very exaggerated red glow of brute eyes. I can barely see where I'm going because it's pouring rain and very steamy. I reach for my weapon, which ended up being the suppressed SMG. Unfortunately, but as expected in a dream, it was broken. The Silencer kept falling off and when I tried to put it back on, the gun would chip away and melt in my hand, so all I could do is run.

The most vivid memory I have of the dream is right before I woke up. I ran across a street and a Wraith happened to be conveniently waiting for me. I could feel my heart skip a beat in my sleep. I was running as fast as I could down another alleyway, tripping over trashcans and slipping in puddles I couldn't see because it was too dark. And there was stairs. Lots of random stairs that I kept half falling down. There was even a homeless guy who told me that I would never get away. I have no idea why the hell he was telling me this, since he was in the same amount of danger as I was.

Anyway, the sound the Wraith makes, that sort of alien generator rumbling noise that has been there since Halo: CE continuously got louder and louder. No matter how hard I tried, that Wraith knew where I was and was going to kill me. Within no time, the Wraith somehow fit into the nook in the wall I found, and starting shelling me with plasma. I woke up.

So now it's about 20 minutes after I woke up and I can't get the Wraith noise out of my head. It was one of those dreams that you don't forget about for at least 24 hours, and I have this strange paranoia that something is out to get me (I know it's not true, it's just a feeling).

Well anyway, I thought I'd share, because I'm probably not going to fall asleep for a while. =] Anyone else have any random dreams about ODST yet?

Hai.

You just played an epic trailer into my head...

--PC Games--
Halo: Combat Evolved
--Xbox 360 Games--
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Wars

Nah. I do sometimes wake up groggy in the morning; like partially asleep but I know what's going on, and I feel like I have a controller and I'm playing Halo 3's meta game for some weird reason though... Ever since watching firefight previews... Probably because of the little medals. :/

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

I think you just had a wet WIN.

That sounds amazing.. if ODST is that intense, I will be happier than a fat kid in a pool of pudding.

Haha, just don't think about it too much, maybe you'll have the same dream. I can't believe how real it was. I felt like I was having a heart attack.... I think.... I've never had one.

Except for the random stairs that would be the most awesomest trailer ever.

Yeah, I don't know where the stairs come from. Whenever I am trying to get away from something in a dream, I always end up running off of some steps that I couldn't see/didn't exist previously. My stomach always drops like I'm riding a rollercoaster when it happens, and it's always unavoidable.

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

Very interesting dream! I have had similar dreams, but not about ODST or video games. I used to have dreams like that about Frankenstein and Witches. (when I was much younger, I don't have them anymore...I conquered it =D )

In the Franenstein dream, I am at my Grandma's house. There are stairs that ascend to the door from the lower level (not a basement really...) and also ascend to the upstairs, right into the kitchen.

The first time I dreamed this I was at the head of the stairs and I had an unbearable sense that something terrible was coming from the lowest level to hurt me. And I mean a relentless, powerful, and terrible sense. It was only a feeling, but so intense that I knew it was true.

There were times when Frankenstein caught me. As I knew, if He caught anyone, he would choke them. And whenever he caught me, he was just beginning to choke me when I would wake up.

I remember one time I dreamt it. As soon as I "entered" the dream, I knew the terrible thing was coming up the stairs. So I frantically ran for the door. (which, as you may remember, is at the foot of the stairs and at the head of another set of stairs that ascend from the lower level, where Frankenstein appears). But I could not open the door. In reality, I could have unlocked it, but in the dream this wasn't possible. Believe me I would have opened that door if I could've.

Eventually, I realized that in order to escape Frankenstein, I must hide. It was as if my dream has a set time of how long it functions. And I knew that if I hid long enough, I would wake up.
And so I utilized this knowledge for many more dreams.

I even remember that in one dream, one of my family members was in the house with me. Suddenly, I feel the sense . I knew He was coming. I tried desperately to warn my family member. I cried, I begged. But that didn't make him change his mind. Soon, I sensed Frankenstein was dangerously close, and unstopable doom was impending. So I hid under the kitchen table. (my habitual hiding spot...I knew it worked).
And so my family member was choked...and I wept.
(I never had a Frankenstein dream with a family member again, thankfully)

Well, that's my dream. Sorry that it didn't involve video games. This was probably before Halo1 was even released.
I have to smile. =D

This is my signature nub.

You need to get off b.net if you're having dreams about a game. Srsly, go out there and get a life! No offense.

The sense of urgency was overpowering, just like in your dream. Even more overpowering than the first time I encountered the Flood in CE. Halo has always been a fun shooter full of action and mystery, but never a horror story. The one in my head was scarier than anything. It's insane what nightmares can do to you.

Haha, well, I did omit some things on purpose because it was too confusing to write... no exaggerations though.

Yeah, haha, and then a spin-off game from the homeless man's perspective.

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"

Yea i did it was short though i was in a cave like area but there was only one tunnel and it was like a dome and in the center of the dome was a tree and me and my squad were standing in the middle with the tree and then two brutes come out and me and my squad light 'em up.

May the Forge be with you.

Intense indeed. But have you ever heard of lucid dreaming? You could control what happens in your dream =)

So instead of the Wraith firing plasma mortars at you, you could have a Scorpion drive around a corner, blasting the Covenant tank to bits!

Funny you mention this, my mom is capable of doing that. She claims that every time she is in danger in a dream, she can change it so she has the upper hand. And whenever she falls off a cliff or something, instead of waking up she lands on her feet.

I sadly cannot do this.

  • 06.17.2009 8:12 PM PDT

I had a dream where I hijacked an AA wraith and drove it around an empty parking lot.
Not too intense, but fun none-the-less.

Was it one of those dreams where it seems as though your squinting, but can't open your eyes?

I've had dreams like that, only I can't close my eyes, not even by covering them up with my hands.
This thread is kind of off topic now...

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Scary, I hate these dreams. Also, if I had the dream, the wraith would be replaced with banshees, only with their sound in Halo: CE. You know, when they actually sounded like banshees.
