I want Halo Reach to be Game of the Year for having the most amazing atmosphere of any game out. I want something that makes you FEEL like a "helpless" human watching and seeing your entire world (Reach) being destroyed. Halo2 and Halo3 were great games but for Earth being "owned" it had no FEEL. The most feel I got would be the Flood on Earth but that wasn't even enough.

I want Reach to be so intense that when your men die, or when a city is destroyed that you get chills. Something like when Foehammer died in Halo:CE. In the trailer (we've all seen) I got chills from that, especially when that one guy says "Theres people down here" and "A city just got wiped off the map"

Night levels and Back Up Levels
ODST seems like it'll have a good atmesphere being at Night. REACH has to have City, (everything really) Night Levels. One thing that always makes you feel more alive, or more tense is fighting or walking in the dark, the stars in the sky, the moon(s). Also have missions where you go back to places.

Music Aid
Music has always helped halo. As far as epic feel I want something like

Just wait till the mid-to end. The song gets really good. Intense, it's slow, but fast. It picks up and just picks you up while dropping you, believe me it's amazing. I want REACH to feel like this. I want amazement

Do not fear my friend, I am sure that Martin O'donnell will not disappoint as always. People have been nit picky about the countless good points and bad points about the Halo series but I do think that most of us can agree that Marty's music has stayed constantly epic and awesome and will not disappoint in the upcoming additions to the story.

Except they don't all die... we actually only know of 4 who die on Reach, and they all die from falling out of a Pelican. There are 23 others possibly still around after Reach falls.

well you know what i mean. I just hope that bungie doesnt stop Halo after reach. Reach ends negatively and Halo needs to be ended on a high note, a very high note

To be quite honest with you, I want every level to feel like Silent Cartographer. I know that might sound repetitive, but the feeling I'm talking about is the inherent feeling of an onslaught of battle on huge terrain.

The Covenant was a good example of this, too, and the other level in CE... the snow level. They very nicely gave that dangerous, on-the-front-lines feeling that I really... REALLY hope we get to play often in Reach.

^by the way your story is awesome.

Anyway, I would love to see that kind of event, especially the glassing because it's a key part of the Covenants fearsomeness, and has a significant part in the struggle against it. The only attention it had in the entire Halo Trilogy was a brief, 6-second cutscene where two cruisers are glassing the surface.

And as for the OP, I know what you mean about that "epic feel" to the game. Generally it's dark, foreign, and unknown. You have no idea what's coming, and you have to be on your toes the entire time to make sure you survive. That was the feel to Halo: CE, and I really hope that it continues in Halo: Reach.

I seriously want to feel like you are fighting for an entire PLANET, I mean a planet like Reach would have at least hundreds of thousands of military personnel who would be trying to hold back the covenant. I want some of the battles to have that kind of scale instead of mostly kind of you + 5 marines against the world thing.

Ditto, however it irritates me knowing they will probally not give them any names just call signs. I personally would love to see Bungie use Fall of Reach as a guideline to the game.. =[

It's like a movie that doesn't follow the book it's based on. For people who have no idea about the book it may be awesome, but for those who read the book it sucks because it doesn't follow the set story.
