Okay, i always see threads on this forum about "OMG ODST Is SOOOOO much Moneh!!!!1", i think $60 is a reasonable price, just hear me out.

This is how the price matches up:

Open world campaign and Firefight:$40

3 New Halo 3 Map: $10

Halo:Reach Beta: $10

See, you would normally pay $10 in Microsoft points for the 3 new maps. Plus, there are a bunch of other cool features in ODST such as the Theater. And, i think if you can afford an Xbox 360, a computer to go to these forums, and Halo 3, you should be able to purchase ODST.

It's well worth the price the only people who would complain about the $60 Pricetag are Trolls and people who simply can't afford it.

plus 10 dollars for the the other 3 mythic maps and legendary maps

so it should be 80 dollars

Well, basically, we can expend this to say that you basically are getting a lot more than your money's worth and we really should be thankful. Now, if anyone is going to complain about repaying for content, here's what I have to say:

1. Some people haven't already payed for it.
2. They ARE giving it to you again.
3. Materials used.
4. You now don't need to wait for your dlc maps to load, so you can immediately jump in and forge on Sandbox.

Indeed. I got Mythic with Halo Wars, but I still don't have Legendary! (yes I have Heroic)

My troll sense is tingling.

Also it's two-disc.

  • 06.18.2009 8:11 AM PDT

first of all i know microsoft makes the prices and i am not mad at bungie i still love them cuz they make great games. i dont care about the price because i love halo there fore i am getting the collectors edition.

the campaign and firefight are not worth 40dollars. its said to be a little bit above 5 hours. GTAIV dlc was 8-10 hours and 20 dollars. so there is no way y half the content should be double the price. the odst campign and firefight should be around 20 dollars.

yes i do agree with you on the 3 new maps

Halo reach beta should not got anything. its not a game and u dont pay for beta.

and for all the people who already bought halo they already have half of the content coming in odst.

and for all the people who already bought the halo maps are gettting screwed because they have to buy them again.

For people who never play halo before yes this is a great thing to buy for them because its worth it and has alot of content in it. but for others who already bought halo 3 and the dlc its only should be worth 30 dollars to them.

I don't think $60 is too much. Think about it this way:

Halo 3: ODST originally started off as a campaign expansion, but it's turned into so much more. It's pretty much a standalone game with the addition of Firefight, not to mention the fact that it's got an open world environment. Firefight and the 4-Player Co-op in campaign have given this game plenty of replay value (very L4D-esque). Had Bungie never said that they were hoping for a $40 price point (they said that, right?) and that it was a campaign expansion, many of these complaints wouldn't be here.

As far as "paying for the maps again" goes...think about it this way:

You paid for the opportunity to play the maps early. The frugal gamer is still waiting to enjoy all the matchmaking playlists that Bungie has to offer. If you paid for the maps, then you're enjoying them all right now and you're getting 3 new ones in September.

The Halo: Reach Beta invite is a gift from Bungie to everyone that really doesn't need a dollar amount tied to it.

Of course, even with logic and reason, some of you will still complain. Maybe in a few years, you'll realize that everyone's out to make money. Don't hate the player, hate the game (not literally in this case, of course!)

Underdog is completely right. Too many people aren't seeing the inherent replay value that ODST brings to the table. There's a figurative ton of bonuses to buying ODST. Some people will complain, sure, but it's not that bad of a deal. I'm certainly purchasing it.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

I think it's worth more than $60. It'll have much more replay value than Halo 3. The open world campaign creates the ability for a million different ways to play, firefight will never get old, and then we have the multiplayer.

It's not a free-roam like GTA, you still have to go somewhere in the city just not directly to it. Firefight will get old just like Gears of War Horde and R6V2 Terrorist Hunt did, and a multiplayer I already have.

  • 06.18.2009 9:08 AM PDT

Look, if you haven't bought Halo 3, don't yet.

Halo 3 multiplayer- $40

Legendary Map Pack- $8

Mythic Map Pack 1- $10

Mythic Map Pack 2- $10

Halo 3:ODST- NEGATIVE $8

IF you don't have Halo 3, and you want to buy ODST, don't buy Halo 3, just wait until ODST comes out and buy it, then go rent Halo 3.

Microsoft is ripping of the fans, and giving a better deal to the newer players.

How Halo 3 MP costs 40 USD, when you can get the whole game for 20 USD?

And who is a fan for Microsoft?

  • 06.18.2009 9:25 AM PDT

i also think that the campaign will be fun to replay over and over. Like i can see me and my friends finding a covenant patrol and seeing how long we can follow them withou them noticing

1. Exactly. To the people that haven't picked up Halo 3, or downloaded the new maps, this is a steal. I'll agree with that. But for the people that's already paid $30 for the maps, not to mention paid around $30 for the original maps on Halo 3, this is terrible for them.

2. So your willing to pay for something you already paid for? That's silly.

3. I don't understand.

4. I could care less.
