So i pre-ordered my copy of ODST at Wal-Mart today and they said the estimated shipping will be between 10-23 and 10-27.

That's and entire month after the release date!

Did anyone else have a problem with online pre-order or is it just me?

You could just pick up the game or pre-order somewhere else.

I can't, I will be at college. Where there is no Bestbuy or Gamestop or anything like that,.

I want to pre-order so I can get Johnson in Firefight.

I noticed this yesterday and posted a thread about it also...

Many people stated that Wal-Mart is bad about updating their release dates to the actual dates...

I've always gone to GameStop for my game pre-orders. Wal-Mart is great and all, but Wal-Mart isn't just video games while GameStop is.

One does not simply walk into Halo.

Pre-order it from Amazon.com then.

Surely you can get it shipped to your college, right? Or at the very least shipped home and your parents can care-package it to you.

You mean you can't cancel your pre-order with Walmart? That sounds fishy.

I have a house off campus. The shipping to where it needs to go is no problem. Its just they expect the arrival to be in late October.

I trust Amazon.com way more than Walmart...but actually, I've had the same thing before where a site / retailer has been lazy about updating release times, only to have the game arrive on-time. That's probably just it with your case, but why take a chance? Just cancel and pre-order with some store who has it more together than Walmart.
