Subject: Sergeant Johnson and his HUD

Probably a stupid question and yes, before you ask I have searched for this thread and got nothing, so here it goes.

When playing as Sergeant Johnson, I'm assuming you can still use the VISR mode and you have the same HUD as the ODSTs. I'm cool with that and all, just doesn't seem to make much sense since he's lacking a helmet. So, what I'm asking is, does Johnson still play like an ODST would with the HUD and VISR like the ODSTs? Thanks.

Lolular!

Kyletacular-Killtacular-get it?

Probably, just for gameplay reasons.

I would guess for gameplay consistency and balance he still uses all the same things any other ODST you can play as would have.

Kind of like the elites in MM look different than campaign elites in order to better balance and not give an advantage/disadvantage

This thread would have appealed to me more if it was written with crayons.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

it would be cool if they slightly altered the HUD for Johnson but I dont think they will.

I was hoping they would show pics of his HUD in the Johnson feature on the homepage, but alas, no...

Keep it classy Flood.

I'd like it if you got to see the smoke from his cigar.

Duracell.
I don't keep going and going and going and...
but i Start, and just don't Stop.

So what if the saxophone is black?
it has better tone the the gold one.
damn straight i play Jazz.

i wonder if there is a helmet option for him like the other ODST's? he is wearing ODST armour after all.

Instead of the VISR, Johnson uses his cigar to light up the darkness.

All marines have a simple HUD implanted into their BRAAAAAAINS so Johnson could have a HUD, but I dont think he would need VISR, because he can see in the dark. Because he is just that awesome.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

It might be kind of cool if Bungie made Johnson stronger than the "average" ODST, but make him have no VISR

if knowledge is power and power corrupts, isn't knowledge therefore dangerous?
Black Tower

my guess:
he has neural implants in his head so it's like having a HUD without a helmet.
it'd be awsome if you could see the tip of his Cigar in the corner.

If you look at the picture here it shows Johnson's HUD will be the same as the other ODST's HUD

What a waste....

That sucks... but I understand.

  • 06.18.2009 10:31 AM PDT

lolwut?

In Contact Harvest, it explains that all UNSC troops get these speicial implants in their eyes that see a hud looking layout in their eyes.

One of the screenshots has his HUD shown to be the same as other ODSTs.

that's a hog turret. that's the same for everyone.
compare it to master chief's.
but it'll robably be the same. it's just a skin.
or rather, just a different helmet.

Rawr Im a dino!

Its just a skin for a character it doesnt have anything to do with gameplay. If they make a spartan available for combat he will be the same as everyone else. It would be unfair

  • 06.18.2009 10:48 AM PDT

There's scoring information, health, a compass, and a wave/round/set indicator as well as skull information. It's the same.

It is my latest cultural research project! By randomly saying LOLWIN to semi-funny replies on the Halo 3 forum, I hypothesize that a temperary self-esteem boost will be present.

And once they read this, they will be a little worse off than before.

Well you see, when Johnson activates his VISR mode, he actually forms a lens of cigar smoke around his eye, which allows him to detect frequencies of light that would normally seem invisible. Also, Johnson's presence in all three halo games has given him the ability to tell friend from foe. Anyway, maybe they make him put on goggles or something for the VISR mode.

It was rumored that Elites wore contacts with all the info on it so maybe Johnson stole it!

If a spartan, (a.k.a. Master Chief), is somehow in the game he would have shields and be much taller than the ODSTs and be able to dual-wield if the ODST can't. Also there would be no VISR for the spartan if you use X to use a gadget...
