So...was just thinking if the Phantoms would be destroyable in Firefight. Since warthogs and turrets are in, maybe if the Phantoms take enough sustained fire they'll go down?
Just a thought.

Oh, and the Search Bar doesn't really like the new ODST forum, so don't spam that at me if this has already been discussed.

and how!

I was watching one of those "off screen" video camera recorded ODST Firefight videos and someone was firing at the engine of a Phantom with a Fuel Rod Cannon and it was clearly taking damage. The thing is, in all the videos I've seen like that the players were terrible, so the Phantom never actually went down.

Nevertheless, I don't see why we would be able to damage them if we couldn't destroy them.

I'd say we have a good 95% chance of being able to.

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

if you think about it when those phantoms finaly blow they have anof power to destroy a wraith tank..(ive seen them do it in campaign)

so blowing them up (if you can intime) might actuly be a good tactic..but no way to know till the game comes out aye.

Well that just made the game much better. xD
Sweet, I didn't notice the Phantoms taking damage in the videos. I'll have to watch them again.

if knowledge is power and power corrupts, isn't knowledge therefore dangerous?
Black Tower

what i'd rather do is somehow launch myself at the phantom, then get on the turret (if one is there), and ride away to victory!

7 lines isn't long enough for a signiture! =P

MegaHaxPwnage

What i want to know is how the hell are we gonna be able to move if we keep destroying them XD

that and the bodies of a destroyed phantom would make good cover as it is indestructible.

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."-Lemmy of Motorhead

i belive shhave funzes suppos

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

I would think so. The level in the Sgt. Johnson article is largely inspired by Tsavo Highway, which at one point in the level you had to defend a hold out for Marines(or you could skip it) And you could take down the Phantoms with enough force(load up all the Marines on Legendary with Fuel Rod Cannons, and the Brutes will get owned hilariously). I'd imagine if someone stockpiled FRCs or rockets as secondary and had the Cowbell skull, Phantoms could be easily destroyed.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I hope so. Kind of as a reward if you can obtain all of the necessary equipment.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

As cool as it'd be, don't you think it would cause the game to lag or overload if enough phantom debris is on the ground?

It could cause lag, but they could just add a code to set a maximum number of debris generated, and when more are added, older ones phase out. Like with bullet holes in walls.

Kudos for looking at my signature. :)

If I were you I'd stay away from the phrase, "They could just add a code." Programmers tend not to like people who say that. Although I'm sure the debris wouldn't be a problem. Just look at all the debris that builds up in the Halo 3 campaign, especially on The Ark.

Death to rank junkies.

That would be great for killing Chieftans...

  • 06.21.2009 10:42 PM PDT

Why So Serious?

I believe so. They should. I mean especially with weapons such as the warthog chain gun.

  • 06.21.2009 11:41 PM PDT

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

Yea, in halo 3 it was fun destorying the phantoms before they had time to drop of reinforcements. It would be great in ODST. If you had a group of four with four machine gun turrets with everyone on a fuel circle thing.. That would be a good tactic. (I know you wont be able to find four turrets but i think you can forge?)

I've seen quite a few of those. Usually with a detached turret or rocket launcher, though.
