Alright, we all know that the two speaker built in thing in our TVs are crap, but my question is, should I just hook up earphones to my flatscreen in my room, or would it be worth the effort to lug my Xbox to the REALLY large flatscreen, and navigate through a maze of wires for a 5 speaker surround sound. I've listened to the Halo 2 E3 Demo trailer, and I could hear bullets whizzing left/right, so would you rather go with earphones and make sure you get every bit of dialog, or would you have that atmosphere as if your house were going to explode from all the vibrations from the speakers?

If I had the opportunity to use a good surround without too much of a hassle (with a bigger picture to boot), I'd go for that. Earphones and refined auditory detail is very nice, but a blasting, vibrating surround would probably suck you into the game even more.

I have 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround, and it rocks ass! I have a 5 speaker/1 subwoofer setup (sub and center speaker are in front, then 4 bigger speakers in the corners of the room that point at the couch). I can feel it through the floor when a grenade detonates, and I can tell when an enemy is sneaking up behind me without even looking at the motion tracker. When the Master Cheif is talking to someone, I can make him spin in a circle and here the voice coming from whichever direction the person is at in the game (even behind/sides). Surround Sound kills headphones any day!

Short version: Definately go with Surround Sound if you can get it.

Note to Ub3rshade- For 5.1 surround to work you have to buy the High Definition Xbox Kit so you can use Digital Optical Out

You know, you can get some very inexpensive systems now ($100 or less). Mow some lawns, caddy for someone, etc., Before you know it, you'll have more than enough.

Youve got 3 months 21 days 23 hours 15 minutes and 41 seconds until Halo 2 and you can't save up 100 bucks by then?

You are just using the regular red and white Rca ouputs? That is just Left and Right audio..how in the world do you get 5.1 out of that? Unless its simulated 5.1 and its just playing the LFE over the Sub and playing the audio on all 5 channels

Not trying to be rude but you work 2 jobs and you only have 5 bucks extra per month after paying your isp? How much are you paying for your isp?

Please post this type of Poll Thread in The Flood forum in future. It has nothing to do with Halo 2 whatsoever.

PS, I voted for Surround Sound ;)

I don't know the specs/technical aspect, but believe me- it's like playing Halo in a theater (but without the enoumous projector screen).

Yes, it does. He wanted to know which would be better for playing Halo 2 on. Thus, it's in New Mombasa.

I've been payring for my ISP since I was 12, and it's 50 dollars a month. And yet, I have a projector, logitech z-680s, an xbox, gamecube, and this athlon 2800+ rig here I built myself. Don't tell me it isn't possible..because it's far from impossible. Just work, find a good job, and do that job well. Soon enough you'll get a raise.
