Please post this type of Poll Thread in The Flood forum in future. It has nothing to do with Halo 2 whatsoever.

PS, I voted for Surround Sound ;)

-JAY132

Yes, it does. He wanted to know which would be better for playing Halo 2 on. Thus, it's in New Mombasa.

No, it should be in The Flood. This has got nothing actually to do with Halo 2, he's asking what type of speakers should he have, headphones or surround sound.

Im not trying to be rude, but if you are just using the regular RCA outputs its not true surround...its simulated, without optical out, or coxial audio out there is no way to decode the audio into 5 seperate channels, when you have red and white cables you only have a left and right audio channel (rca cables are the bottom of the food chain, not saying their bad qualty just saying they are the least technical audio option) but when you have a digital optical (second best) or coaxial audio(the best, but no connections for xbox will support it that i know of) It send the true audio form to an AC-3 decoder (either built into your reciever or a seperate component) and breaks the audio up into your center channel, FL, FR, RL, anf RR, and send the LFE (low frequency emissions) to the subwoofer. All and all what this does is it makes the sounds right in front of you only come out of the center channel, to the front and off to the right comes out of the FR, and so on... You can use the RCA cables and simulate the 5.1, but the sounds won't really be accurately represented by its output from the speakers, it will just be really damn loud (which isnt such a bad thing) from all angles, and you wont be able to distinguish directions

he could have the component output plugged into his reciever/TV so thats just as good...

You cant use the component output without the High Def Kit...and thats video not audio

Yes, there is. My humble RCA conections are going through an RCA brand Dolby Digital Surround system box/machine thing. All it does is decode signals and send them to the right places. I don't know how my dad wired everything, but there are 8 pieces of equipment in my living room just for audio.

Oh, and I CAN distinguish directions quite clearly (even with my eyes closed- I've tried it).

hmmm well I jope you had a solid reason for declining one of a gamers dream job sketch :p

and I dont know the details of the component output specificly (dont use it), I use the standar left/right channels for my reciever, and although its not the best but its cheap and effective.(I am on a strict budget)

Its impossible to decode the signals from composite rca cables.... im just saying the facts, its technically impossible... so im done talking about it if you want to argue with me, not pissed at you or anything like that, just dont feel like beating a dead horse

If your Tv supports component video I def. recommend it, colors are sharper, and everything is clearer..makes sniping from huge distances so much nicer

It's not just red and white, if that makes a diference. Yellow two. I was told that this was RCA, I appears that I may be using the wrong terminology.

nope, but it supports S-vid cable, I would buy it but I think the video is nice enough for now, I have to many things to buy in the next two months.

(HALO2,AC:NEXUS,FABLE, and many more)

it all depends on your budget too, of course if you get the surround system that'll be fun for everybody else in the room and all, but you get a helluva lot of detail of sound with headphones

there are three conectors the regular, the advanced a/v cable and the high deffenition a/v cable and i was wondering if the advanced a/v cable would be able to decode the signals form the x-box in 5.1 audio if connected into the right system (sorry for spelling and the slowness of my reply i type fast but have slow dial-up)

Yeah I know there are three, but Im asking you what the advanced cable set consists of? I think its the same as the regular one just gold plated for better connection quality....so if thats the case no, but I don't know what the advanced kit consists of for sure

it had the regular three slots and a S-Viedo (I believe) output but there is like a small box that connects to the x-box that has the slots in it to plug the red white yellow and S-Viedo into and in frankies top storie (which you can find above) he says that ether will work but i was wondering what you guys thought (sorry for spelling)
